2000 Nassau blue frc project

Bought it with a couple little problems. Oil sender was bad, seat tracks had a little bit of play, cracked coolant tank, engine was really dirty, horn doesn't work. https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...bbcd2bab47.jpgFirst day i picked her up.
https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...c28de4978c.jpgMotor the day i got ithttps://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...c8c01c183b.jpgEngine now all cleaned up.new coolant tank, dorman intake (fast 78 replica) new oil sender. Removed all the air pump hoses and new pcv hoses. Also had to replace the wiper motor. Went through a car wash and all 3 drains were completely clogged with leafs and dirty.
https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...cf0e2b76ce.jpgGot a great deal some c7 seats and wired them up and installed them. Think im the first c5 with c7 seats. So much better than the stock c5 seats . Looking into getting new door panels and getti g the steering wheel rewrapped.
will be getting some wheels and lowering bolts soon.

What a transformation under the hood.

The C7 seats look real good in a C5. You should re-covet the center console lid to match the C7 seats.

What rims and sizes are you planning?

C7 seats, cool. I think you might be correct, I have not seen any other C5, at least on here with them. I have posted in threads about them in the past, and it was uncertain if they would fit. Please let us know about the install and what it took to make work.

They look good, but they are the base seat, correct? I would want to do the sports, but they may be wider.

C7 Seats.... I like that look!!

The center concole lid will definitely be done to match the seats. Still debating on getting new door panels or getting them covered to match the seats. Seats bolt right up. The plastic where the switch are needs to be trimmed and the bracket that holds it in the back needs to be removed. I cUT the 4 wires I needed to make the seats work and bought new connector to wire them up. I ran the power to the passenger seat from the driver seat up across behind the seats and then back down to the other side.

Wheels will be 19 in front and 20 in the rear in the brushed titanium finish. https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...c9728a84dc.jpgBefore. That sensor knows how to make a mess

Nice work Mike!

Those seats are killer in there!!

The seats look great in your car. If you had the time, that would have been a great DIY to post up - including the detailed write-up and pics.

Where did you get the C7 seats? They look good in the C5!

Once word gets out that C7 seats are easy to swap into the C5 there'll be no more great deals. Buy early if you can ...

are you going to keep those PHONY ricer brake caliper covers - what people buy into :leaving:

Michael Garcia 03-26-2017 09:22 AM

Can't really do a write up as I took no pictures of the process. The seats are slightly larger and are much heavier than the stock seats. I got a great deal on them from some one that put race seats in there car. I wouldn't recommend the seats for a very tall person as the seat can't go as far back as a c5 seat. You will lose about 1 or 2 inches going back as the switche's will contact where the seat belt comes out. And yes those brake covers are coming off. Looking at what paint I can use to try and get them as close to the body color that I can like the blue that came on some of the grandsports.

as long as you don't track the car and get them REAL hot, use what ever auto paint you want - worse case you paint them again years from now if at all - seen it done many times.

Well that sucks. They look so good in there though.

This is a great thread! Thank you for all the pics! I really enjoy watching someone take a beaten down corvette and bring it back up to speed! :D

It's too bad the seats are so heavy, but they do look very good. I'm considering options for replacements myself, but I want to lighten things up... Visually they're fantastic though.

Anyway, thanks for the thread and all the great pics!

I would pick comfort and style any day over maybe an extra 40 to 50 lbs. This car will never see the track as I has this https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...89ce7f738.jpeg

These are the wheels that I'm probably going to end up with https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...6a49f6e7ae.jpg

I suppose I should have cut the quote down some to the part I was referring to... That's it sucks that it limits usage for taller folks. :confused2:

Velocity_Vette 03-27-2017 01:30 PM

Great job.

I haven't seen too many pre-2001 C5 owners running the Dorman intake. How was your experience with the install? I'm thinking about swapping over to it when I have to replace my oil pressure sender (going to be a matter of time...). Seems like it's worthwhile over both the base LS1 style and also a reason to upgrade to the LS6 style PCV setup.

The C7 seats look good. I agree you may have opened a can of worms showing they can fit in a C5. It's a good think I'm pretty short :D

Always a fan of the FRC Looks great so far, on the calipers, the main thing is surface prep, as long as its done correctly any quality paint will work.
