Cadillac will be mid engine, not Corvette
I spoke to someone i know who works for GM. They have informed me that there will be no Corvette mid engine at first. Apparently GM thinks being that Cadillac is the premiere GM product they will make a Cadillac mid engine before the Corvette. I know this sounds crazy but being that Cadillac is now going to be built out of the Bowling Green factory along with Corvette this may be true. The plant is having major renovations adding a second level to build Cadillacs. If this is true many Corvette people will surely be UPSET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:ack::ack:. I'm sure the Nay Sayers will be chiming in NP but this guy i know is usually spot ON.
http://wardsauto.com/news-analysis/g...-bowling-green FROM SEPTEMBER 2016 START YOUR BASHING!!!!!!. LAUGH ALL YOU WANT THIS IS HAPPENING SORRY TO BURST THE CORVETTE OWNERS BUBBLE. http://www.corvetteonline.com/news/m...be-a-cadillac/ |
Yes. We're VERY upset you know a guy!
Keep us posted if you meet anyone else. |
Wait! Cadillac is building a new car?!?!
Burn this mofo down! |
makes sense that it will be a caddy first:thumbs:
|
I sure hope not!!!
|
Maybe... maybe not. I also know a guy.
|
Wouldn't surprise me. If GM is going to sell a $150k+ car is should be sold out of a Caddy dealer rather than one that sells sparks and cruzes.
This could be a good thing for Corvettes. It may cause them to tighten up on quality a bit at BG. Ahhem, paint... |
OP, I don't know who you talked to or when you heard all this, BUT YOUR ARTICLE LINKED IS FROM THE YEAR 1999 !!!!!!!
|
I hope not because that car if it were to be a Cadillac first it would topple Chevrolet and Corvette off its premiere sports car throne. Cadillac would become the sports car king.
|
As I've reported here several times in the past, I know a guy that has a brother-in-law, who went to high school with a guy that has a former step father that is a minority owner in both a Chevy and Cadillac dealership. Based on a conversation a while back, but not all that long ago; there is a possibility that a MR car is made as a Chevy AND a Caddy...but more information will be known when it come out...

http://wardsauto.com/news-analysis/g...-bowling-green The head guy at Cadillac let it slip months ago. The first appearance will be as a Caddy...the Corvette version will follow later. |

I never said it wouldn't be a Cadillac. The hilarious component was the use of an 18 year old news article about the XLR. If you have ever read my posts on the subject, many times I have said the ME may wind up being a Cadillac and that as late as last year GM still hadn't made up their minds.

It's all a marketing game and would depend on whether or not they thought it would be profitable.

Which of the four is around today? The purpose of a new Cadillac sports car is not to be in competition with the Corvette, but to get those buyers of Mercedes, BMW, and Audi cars and SUV's to give a look at the Cadillac XTS, CTS, CT6, etc. Cadillac is trying to boost the sales of their mundane lineup of grocery getters and not to run the Corvette out of business. |
If it's a Caddy, I just hope it's not their typical blocky crap-tacular styling...
