Black Rose is history

Just when I thought I would order one next year.............
|
Interesting. Those production numbers are actually higher than I would have expected.

always surprised Corvette isn't offered in more exotic, bright colors. So far, Yellow is the only color for the cool kids. :yesnod:

Awesome! Keep it rare! I've experienced more people going out of their way to comment on how amazing they think the color is than any other Vette I've ever had.

It is a very nice color.

Get rid of torch red for fire engine red.
Was never a fan of sterling blue or black rose. |
Lasted longer than I though it would!

Question - So does that mean BRM will be available for ordering before the shutdown? Wondering if a 2018 model is possible during this small timeframe. That would be an extremely rare commodity if that's the case.
|
Not too surprising BRM is going away.
The market for purple cars isn't big. |
:iagree:
Makes me wonder why they try non mainstream colors to begin with. How many ordered of a certain color would make it a successful color? Over one thousand cars in a model year sounds OK. Anybody know of colors even less produced than BRM for C7. The light blue, DSOM and green come to mind but I am not sure. Will this new off white grey do any better? |
^ I predict that the Ceramic Matrix Grey (.ie off white) is going to last at least two years. The production numbers will be skewed in favor of CMG due to 650 of them practically guaranteed to be built and eventually sold...giving them a bit of a head start. GM will probably look at those numbers combined with native sales (which only need to be decent at that point) to justify another model year.
It's like Watkins Glen Gray to an extent - of course the production numbers were higher than everything else under the Grand Sport umbrella...they had a 1000 vehicle head start with the Collector's Edition and was pushed to the moon as such. And don't get me wrong - I love the color (new owner of a Watkins Glen Gray 2LT as of yesterday). But if you have a backing from the brand, barring a complete disaster, I can easily see the Matrix lasting until at least the 2019 MY. Edit: I think a successful color would probably need to hit the 2000 mark (or around it) to be on the safe side. http://macmulkincorvette.com/2017/04...-numbers-date/ In totality, the last page on the slideshow has BRM at about 1000 between the 3 models...which doesn't sound bad, but compared to everything else, you can see why it was on the chopping block. It barely passed Sterling Blue, and they stopped producing those almost 2 months prior to the Bash event. |
lucky i got mine!

Not surprised, follows limerock. Instead of more vibrant colors like you see being done with wraps/ gm just keeps coming out with "weird" colors. The trend is vibrant. I never disliked BRM but it was at bottom of list. Chrome wheels look ok with it but that is such a dated look. Black does absolutely nothing for me on this color....usually black is either sleek or aggressive looking but not in this case.

Makes mine all the more valuable/rare! 7MT Grand Sport in BRT!

Just because a specific color has sold very low numbers does not make it limited or rare, it makes it unpopular. Many of the tint coat premium colors only last a year or two before they go away. Mine is LB and while I prefer it over other colors, if it had been more popular it would still be available.

Torch Red is the only color I would order.
It seems that even red may also be becoming a rare color. Our Corvette club had a show last weekend, and I don't think there was a Torch Red C7 there. Plenty of older models in red, but a lot of people going for black, blue, white, yellow, and one year colors. Also, wide bodies seem to dominate too. My 2014 Torch Red base Stingray was non-typical. |
