10.143@131MPH on a warm and windy night in June = 9.9xx in the winter?

That's certainly what I'm hoping for at least:

https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...172469fdff.jpg

This is a new PB for the car, beating my previous time of 10.15 at a Test and Tune back in December. The significance of this is that the 10.15 pass was made while it was 46 degrees outside and the DA was almost -1100ft, whereas the 10.14 pass was made while it was 73 degrees with the DA over 1300ft AND a fairly stiff headwind at the time (anyone who's ever raced at Sonoma will have experienced this first hand).

By my calculations I'm pretty sure the car will easily go 10.0xx in an upcoming race with moderately cooler air, and I should hit the 9's with only sea level DA (0ft) either in the fall or winter.

I don't usually redlight this bad but just finished putting the car on a 138lb diet and haven't yet fully adjusted to how much quicker it reacts on the launch.

I didn't get the 10.14 pass on video but did get this 10.18 from the previous week:

Very impressive. What all have you done to the car?

Looks like fun and I'd guess you'd be in the 9s with good weather for sure.

What did the 138lb diet consist of?

  • All interior carpeting
  • Some Dynamat from the rear hatch area (couldn't get the stuff off from under the seats)
  • Rear speakers
  • Seat belts and recoil mechanisms
  • Crap in my glovebox (at least 5 lbs)
  • More crap in the two rear compartments (over 30lbs)
  • Rear compartments and lids
  • AC condenser and compressor (one of the lines broke while recently reinstalling the engine so I just took everything out)
  • 5lb Shorai lithium ion battery (this saved 25lbs)

I may be able to go even further as I'm thinking about getting a lightweight racing seat. I also bought straight pipes to replace my Borla exhaust but that one is a little questionable as they have a 115db noise limit at Sonoma on Wednesday nights.

Very nice, Chris! I would think that with some cold, mineshaft weather (and a tailwind would help:D) that thing should break into the 9s. Or get so damn close that all you would have to do is toss your passenger seat to get there.

HOXXOH 06-17-2017 01:04 AM

:thumbs: But you kinda rub it in with that "awful" 1300'DA.
The DA here was over 4600' at 7PM. :ack:
Drag racing is nearly dead in Phx, since they only have 6 events left for the year and 2 of those include drifting.
RRBob had a major oops as you heard, so never got the chance to test the tune.
Hope to be there to see you run 9's.:woohoo:

It's already out of the car so I'm pretty much out of things to remove.

Mike mentioned something about that but didn't seem sure of the details of what exactly happened.

I appreciate you taking the time to make the list. Gives me some ideas for sure!

No, but it does go uphill after the traps.

Looks liked he jumped the light. Still impressive though. 9.5-10 is what my stock suzuki 1340 hayabusa will do and that's fast at 153 mph in quarter!!

Yeah, I did by a bunch last night too:

Ever since I lightened up the car I've had trouble not redlighting. I know I'll figure it out eventually though so I'm not overly worried.

Was that the old Gene Adams Oldsmobile in the other lane? Just curious.
