Great delivery experience & super price on 2018 GS
Happy days are here - I picked up my new 2018 GS this afternoon. A big thanks goes out to Mike Davenport (the ‘Louisville Chevy Dude”) at Bachman Chevrolet in Louisville, KY. He made it a great experience for me and surprised me with a killer price.
I decide to pull the trigger on a 2018 during the first week in May, and had planned to order from MacMulkin (and do Museum Delivery as the best way to get possession of the car.) They offered to give 10% off, which was the best deal I could find on a 2018 at the time. However, at the last minute, and to save the cost of Museum Delivery, I decided to give my local dealer, Mike Davenport, a chance. He wouldn’t give me an exact % off, so it was difficult to compare apples to apples, but said he could at least match their price, if not beat it – at all depended on the actual invoice when the car arrived. So, preferring to support my local dealer, I took a chance and placed an order with Mike. Bottom line – my 2018 GS arrived yesterday, and he delivered it today. My total cost was exactly $613 less than what it would have cost me to get it from MacMulkin. I was definitely surprised, and glad I had put my trust in him. Mike also set everything up for me on the car, gave me a tour of the service department to show me who works on the Corvettes, assured me they always use Mobil 1, jack pucks, etc. Overall, this was a great experience, and I’m really glad to been able to “buy local” and also know I have an ally at the dealer should I need one. Plus, I'm lucky to have received the one of the very first, if not the first, 2018's delivered. |
Congrats, but no pictures is a major faux pas.

I think it's rather astonishing GM has closed production and order taking for the 2017 model year, but if you go on the Corvette website - it is STILL the 2017 model year.

Sounds like a great dealership.

I think its awesome that dealerships are already offering discounts on 2018 cars. Surprising with so many 2017s still on the lots. Kudos to Bachman and MacMulkin.

2018 discounts, good. 2017 discounts, better. And thats how it works.

Congrats

Mike Davenport has some very good instructional videos on you tube.
Good luck with your C7. |

Nice car and glad to hear about your dealer. I went to J&;:&@ chev here in Ohio just to look and a salesman came out to talk. He knows everything about everything and said you couldn't even order one yet. I'll have to show him this thread! I'm still saving for mine.

I've not gone down the road to ordering a new Corvette locally, simply because none of the Chev. dealers can or will even match MacMulkin's up front bottom line price. Classic Chev. In Grapevine, Texas could only come within $4K of MacMulkin on the same exact built to order C7. The silly sales rep claimed that Classic paid more than what my bona-fide locked in offer from MacMulkin was. I suggested they buy from MacMulkin too, at that point. They pulled the we don't know the price until it gets here routine too. Wonder how they were able to sell for $613.00 less than MacMulkin?

As a newb to the corvette world, as well as the built to order world, I'm still learning the ropes. I'm still contemplating whether I'll buy new, or seek out a lightly used C7. It seems that most of, or all of the cars I'm finding in dealer inventories are loaded with crap I don't need or want, so I'm thinking that ordering one will be my best. Is it common to not know the price of the car until delivery? That seems pretty ludicrous to me to be honest. Additionally, one of the biggest reasons to buy from one dealer vs another is the cost.

Nice to be able to buy local and support the dealer you will need support from.
Congrats on the car outstanding! |
