How many guys can say their current C7 will be their last Corvette unless........

I have been lucky to own 12 different Corvettes since 1993. I am now 51 and just purchased and built from the factory exactly the way I wanted it my ultimate Corvette a Brand New 2017 C7 Z06 3LZ VERT. I can honestly go on record and say this will be my last Corvette that I hope to own as long as I can still DRIVE it at a older age. The only way I would get another Corvette would be the following 3 things.

1. CRASH IT and TOTAL IT......:ack:
2. It is a MECHANICAL UNRELIABLE NIGHTMARE..:ack:
3. Financial situation arises and cant afford it and then I will hopefully still be able to downgrade to a previous generation that is in my budget.

CAN ANYONE ELSE GO ON RECORD STATING THAT THEIR CURRENT C7 CORVETTE WILL BE THEIR LAST UNLESS????????

Well, in, say, 2020, Corvette comes out with the new Flux Capacitor Model, then all bets might well be off.....

Probably on my last Corvette. Age combined with retirement dictate this will probably be the last one. I'm OK with that. Seven years ago when I was laid off, buying any Corvette was not even in my wildest dreams. When a consulting job changed our financial situation, I bought a used C5 in 2012. I would have been perfectly happy to have that as my last Corvette. As the financial picture grew better, a C7 became a reality. I know just how lucky I am to own any Corvette, especially a C7. So I'm very happy if this is the last.

I said "this will be my last Corvette"....3 Corvettes ago. lol

GM is probably going to actually build a mid-engine car. My 2017 will suffice until/if I purchase this upscale product.

jlsru 06-17-2017 07:52 PM

With having a heart attack and forced to retire last month this will definitely be my last Corvette. Glad I love it so much. Just hope I am able to keep it.

mschuyler 06-17-2017 07:52 PM

Dave, at 51 you are not a very convincing liar. When the C8 comes out you will be drooling like the rest of us. Then you'll be figuring out resale value on your Z06. And then you'll be saying, well, it's not THAT much more, and they still make them in RED. And then you'll be telling us you can't wait for the new car to get here. :woohoo:

mpuzach 06-17-2017 07:59 PM

It's hard to tell. Since I have no idea what the C8 is going to be like and since I can't be certain of my financial situation 5 or 10 years from now, I'm keeping all options open. If my current '15 Stingray turns out to be my last Corvette, though, I won't be complaining; I love this car more than I ever thought I would.

Goaty 06-17-2017 08:09 PM

Definitely not. Love my 1 yr old 2016 but GM is firing on all cylinders with its performance cars and I'm sure the C8 will be awesome and I'll want one.

Vett2017 06-17-2017 08:13 PM

Well, like many, I said that 6 Vetts ago. Now age and knees probably will be my last 17 GS ........probably, maybe, possabally , never say never

scott53 06-17-2017 08:22 PM

Definitely maybe.

stingraymyway 06-17-2017 08:22 PM

My C7 will be the last unless it gets totalled. I pray that never happens.
Let GM make a mid engine. I wouldn't be able to afford it. When I make the last payment, near future, my money is going into my retirement.

rmorin1249 06-17-2017 08:27 PM

At 68 I figure my C7 is probably my first and last Corvette. If GM builds a ME that is around $100k and it looks good I could be tempted.:D

aj98 06-17-2017 08:28 PM

Given I still have my C5 some 17 years later, and I've only had my 7 for 3 years...I'm not planning on getting another anytime soon....might be a retirement gift to myself, though.... but I have a few more years to go before that happens. Unless I hit the lottery.... :)

ExRedRacer 06-17-2017 08:35 PM

This is for sure my last Corvette. Definitely. Positively. Of course that's what I said about the C6 I had a few years ago too...

Seriously, I couldn't be any happier or more pleased with my little blue Vette. Every time I drive it or even look at it, I can't believe it's mine, it's such a blast to have. I'm very grateful that I have this opportunity to own this American legend.

Best wishes for a full recovery.

Snowwolfe 06-17-2017 08:36 PM

Never say never, ever.

owc6 06-17-2017 08:41 PM

Gosh, I hope not.

I want to drive the snot out of several more.

UsernameProtected 06-17-2017 08:42 PM

Unless....

Someday I see Admiral Blue in person, and I just can't keep from doing something financially stupid to satisfy my preference for a blue that's darker than Laguna Blue.

The C8 is substantially better in a lot of areas.

My C7 is involved in a bad accident.

I become disabled, and can't drive a manual transmission anymore.

My son asked me last week what car I'd drive if I didn't have the C7, and I couldn't name one. Any incremental performance gains from here get stupidly expensive, and not realistically usable day-to-day.

Gary '09 C6 06-17-2017 10:25 PM

My plan is to keep my C6 ZR1, regardless of future models. It's in excellent condition and runs like a champ.
If I ever have more space and "truly spare funds," maybe I'd buy a C2 driver...
