I think I said something like that back in '76 and that was 20 Vettes ago! Oh, well. Never say never!

Corgidog1 06-18-2017 10:18 AM

I made the big mistake of announcing to my wife that my C7 purchase of 2 yrs ago would be my last Corvette.

I guess it all depends on how the C8 looks (at 68 I doubt I will be getting a C9) and more importantly how my retirement funds look.

TEXHAWK0 06-18-2017 10:21 AM

The ones that are dead.:D

tbasco 6 06-18-2017 11:56 AM

The C7 is my 16th and last, unless a C8 comes out while I'm still upright.

The BEST Corvette I will own will be my [B][I]NEXT one!

Wife Says No

82 years old, she wanted the C6 in 2006. She wanted the C7 in 2014. She is expecting a C8 as an early adopter. Mid engine or not.

No sir, I can not.

My Unless:
1. I get an itch to go back to manual from an A8
2. I see a new color I have to have.
3. I get bored and want to try a different model...

#1 may be the only scenario that drives me into another c7...cylinder deactivation is getting annoying. The A8 is fantastic, but I do miss rowing through the gears.

Never say never!!
When the mid engine C8 comes out I may have to spend my kids inheritance!!

davepl 06-18-2017 01:01 PM

Last one till the next one!

Mike Campbell 06-18-2017 01:29 PM

Well I'd love to be able to get another one. Maybe a C8...but, and there's always a "but". However since I'm retired now and 1.) my only income is S.S. and 2.) I have spinal stenosis which affects my right leg on long trips so most likely this C7's my last one. :( This really sucks big time. :toetap:

smajicek 06-18-2017 01:38 PM

My 2014 c7 is my third and probably last because I do want to have plenty cash in the bank for retirement and rising medical costs when I retire. I am predicting that health insurance in 10 years will be $4K per month for me and the wife. Thanks to ADA that is a disaster and all the medicare frauds.

Phanni 06-18-2017 01:45 PM

Wellllll, I'm 72 and on my 7th Vette........

boxster99t 06-18-2017 02:01 PM

My 2015 is definitely my last Corvette, but I've also got a 67 Corvette convertible.

I bought the C7 to have a convertible I could drive on my daily commute on nice sunny days. Also did the museum delivery which is something I wanted to do.

I'm 56 now and when I retire in 3 years the C7 will be sold because when I'm retired I can drive my 67 anytime I want to top down cruise. And 3 sports cars now (the c7, 2006 PCA Club Coupe 2 of 50, and the C2) plus my daily/bad weather driver, is probably one car too many because the all black c7 gets to sit outside 24/7, 365 days a year--two car garage is occupied by the 67 and the Porsche.

Recently turned 74 and loving driving my 2014 Laguna Blue 3LT. It is my second Corvette, had a 58 when I was twenty but totaled it. I saw a car collector interviewed recently and loved his quote, "I'm one car away from Complete Satisfaction". Sounds like a lot of Vette drivers I know.

Last Corvette

I have had four, 96,04,12 and 16.
The C7 by far the best styling, performance and technology.
As I will soon be 74, this may be the last.
My concerns rest with GM:
They choose to market the car thru a small number of dealers with prices the local dealer cannot compete with.
Those high volume dealers usually are not interested in a trade so they low ball your trade.
The other part is moving the car from one of the high volume dealers is the transportation costs, or negotiating a drop ship. Not all dealers will accept a courtesy delivery.
Even if you purchase from a high volume dealer, I have purchased two,now your faced with a dealer that cannot service the car. We have all read about problems with simple oil changes.
Then you read about, cracked windshields, torque tubes, paint issues, panel gap issues. I expect better of GM.
That said, I love my 2016, TR Coupe, Z51, Manual.
One of the reasons I read the Forum is to continue learning from others.

I hear you! My best friend has a 650s and I absolutely love driving that car! He has ordered a new 720 and has been tempting me to buy his 650s, but at this economic point in my life I still like to eat and have a roof over my head.

:iagree:

Same. 58 now so the c8 is too late on my timeline.

Lots of potential with the c7 z06 that I have yet to explore and that should happily fill my needs for a long time to come.

:woohoo:

my family knows I've spouted that "assurance" more than once (as I have done on this site numerous times)......and throw in all the money I've spent "individualizing" my (six) Vettes.

BUT; this is it! I'm within a year of retiring on a very fixed income. It is a school teacher's retirement and therefore it is not only fixed but basic.

Therefore, the Vette I bought a year ago; 2014 Torch Red Z51 1lt 7MT convertible (now with 10K miles) along with about 3K in "improvements" including a Corsa sport exhaust and an aFe CAI PLUS it will be paid off in alittle less than a year. The numbers are clear, the road ahead is clear and I have entered my second longest monogamous relationship:thumbs:
