Sectioning off the 3rd garage bay
 

So, one of my neighbor's kids accidentally backed a golf cart into my other neighbor's Shelby Cobra (seriously). Time for me to build a wall.... I think another poster one time mentioned sectioning off his 3rd bay, although I think he did it to keep his cat off his C7 if i remember right.

Also, I've gathered up all the old bedspreads in the house to cover mine. (So the Mrs. gets to shop for new ones.) I remember another poster saying he does this too. I have a cover for another car but decided not to use one on the C7 at this time. I'll let our cat lay on the covers if she'd like. She'll keep any mice out in the winter.

In process photos attached. Of course there will be a door in the wall. So, I don't have to open the overhead door to get to my baby. The framing for the door isn't in the photo. It's tempting to cut out some studs and frame in for a picture window so I can see this beautiful machine while i'm getting into a vehicle in the main part of the garage...


One door will open all the way as shown here (along with a 2nd ladder that is tied off to the wall but like golden2husky said, would be better off moved). The other door will open past the 1st set of indents but not all the way to the second set. Although I like bump rail/pool noodle/garden hose idea, i think i can get by without it.

Why do I have the feeling this mini-project will end up by the time this winter is over, with RaceDeck on the floor....and a neon Route 66 clock on the wall...and....who knows what else?

Anybody know where to get a high quality 3'x5' or so C7 emblem flag?

Good idea - I would do the same if I had an attached garage with kids at home. Just move that ladder out of there. You will kick yourself if gets knocked over.

it will make working on your car hard as their will be less space to work with a Jack or open both doors fully. I would just hire a a security guard

Why is the treated lumber at the bottom of the wall so wide?

Now you'll need bump rails to keep from dinging the doors. This whole idea seems to add too much inconvenience.

What am I missing here? You are putting up a wall which is going to clearly make it very difficult to get in and out of your car because a neighbors kid backed into your neighbors car. Looks like a horrible setup to me, way too tight in there now.

A wall is too much inconvenience. Cant see the car, loose storage space, narrows the work space and decreases overall working area of the garage. If I had to put something in it would be a removable knee high barrier. I have stuff around my 16 Vette and previous special vehicles.

Do what you want....you can always service the car in the other two garage bays once those cars are moved. I also have a tight area for opening my drivers side door due to a wall being close. I attached a swimming pool noodle to the wall and my door hits this all the time and I don't have to worry about any damage. A couple screws in the back side of the noodle after opening a few holes in the opposite side and a $1.00 noodle and your door is protected. Something to consider.

I think you'll regret that wall but time will tell.

Your getting carried away. I just park my car in the garage with the other two. It is always ready to go, no covers to hinder departures.

my garage is tight. I put work benches on both side walls before I ever thought I would be in a position to own a different car while living in this house with my kids. Figured that would be a retired thing.

my wife walks through the garage with groceries so be it. They know to be careful around the car. I xpel'd the front so even using the walk through side door when my niece comes over she drags her little hands over the whole hood. She loves the corvette. She's almost 3.

think about what you're doing. It's borderline insane. And I am ocd to a degree. But what you're doing may have a family member think you should be committed lol..

I put up a separate wall in my 2 car garage back in 1992 for my first Corvette a brand new 1993 40th anniversary ruby red coupe and the same wall is there today.

Sectioning garage
 

Recently built a 3d car garage addition. Inside was only 9ft wide due to property restrictions. In any event I laid out where the door would open on the wall and left a 5 foot opening so door could swing open without any isuues getting in the car. Still to tight to work on the vehicle in there but very accessible now to get in .

If it were me, I would first straighten out the basketball hoop that tilts down in your drive.

Basketball hoop is tilted down all the way so I can fit my box truck in the driveway to pay for my corvette ! Thanks for sharing your 2cents!:D:D:D:

I can understand the goal and it looks like the project is near completion.

FWIW I might have consider a 4 ft high hall, with a counter top (so to say) so you beer has a place to rest. Lighting, heating, etc shared from the rest of the garage

None the less ...nice addition.
