Would it be inappropriate to put Z06 hood stripes on my 2004 CE convertible?

Yes it's " Your" car but at the same time you don't want to get slack from every person who sees it because it's not authentic and tries to mimic itself into being something it's not . I know classics and when people do " clones" they get no respect and it drops the value . I built it for me but I would rather others admire the car and not make snide comments how I'm pretending to be a different model

You'll surely run into the purists on here who will balk at the notion of putting beauty enhancements on YOUR car. :crazy2: While I am an opponent of slapping emblems from a hotter model onto its lesser counterpart, I'd see nothing wrong with putting those CE stripes on the vehicle as it doesn't contain the verbiage "Z06" anywhere on them to my knowledge and thus, you're not trying to identify the car as something it's not. Purely cosmetic and quite nice I believe. I'll reinforce this: It's YOUR car, and unless someone's footing the bill for the payment/maintenance their negative opinion is as needed as a hole in the head. Post some pics after if you decide to do it!

Not my cup of tea but its your car and if that is what appeals to you and makes you happy then go for it. The car hobby has always been about making your car your own through personalization, mods etc. The point is to enjoy it! Take care!

I say if you want to pay for my Vet, then and only then, I will keep it pure as hell.

I don't see why not? Your car, your way

It's your car; do whatever you want.
It kills me when people worry about what others think or may say about their car(s). Did they pay for the car for you? There's your answer. |

Actually the stripes were only available on the Z06 but that said I see nothing wrong with putting the stripes on the car. If they are genuine GM stripes, there is the word carbon fiber printed on the stripes to denote the hood composition, but other than that they look great on the car.
Don't worry what others say - it's your car so feel free to mod it however it pleases you. |

Why would you care what other people think?

I love my CE stripes it is my favorite style of stripe I have seen on a C5 and mine is a 2002 vert. I wanted to bring some red to outside of the car since I have red interior.https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...8c61e96f0f.jpghttps://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...a3f4eb0e65.jpg

Go for it. I'm all for personalizing the car... heck I have Z06 Rear Brake Ducts on my non-Z06 Coupe.
As others have mentioned, I don't condone misrepresenting what you have (or don't have)... e.g. putting a Z06 emblem on a non-Z06 car. |
Go for it.

They look great, but I doubt I'd do it.

I like em, go for it!
