RPM holding up
 

Hello all I'm looking for some assistance.
I have a 2006 z06 . Car works perfectly when cold after it warms up, the engine rpm will be slow returning to ideal rpm between gear changes . Engine slows To around 3000 rpm normally when slow to approximately 2000 then slow as, from there down .
Has any one had the problem .

I changed the battery and checked for any code with a generic reader and nothing showing .
I have just received a tech 2 and now need to work out how to read code with the new tool

Unless you shift very very slowly, the rpm should not come down to idle, if that's what you are expecting.:thumbs:

I understand what you are saying , however it difficult to explained the problem

I`ll put it this way
when you shift out of third at 3000RPM and pull forth, the engine is at 3k as the clutch engines and that pulls the engine down .
now if I am going a little harder and I shift up at 5500 out of first to second (with my foot off the pedal ). it hang on and all hell breaks loose , not what you want when your pulling out into traffic

So I find my self selection neutral between gear and waiting for the RPM to drop to the appropriate revs. ( in traffic. )

I'm starting to think . I have a problem that is not a common one.
I ordered a new pedal sensor assembly today.

Did you check for any codes first? Just throwing parts at the problem isn't the best way to solve it.

I agree with you but no I am not getting any codes

Sounds like the TB is sluggish to return to idle, could be gummed up and needs cleaning.
If not dirty, I would still lean towards the TB though, since there are no codes popping up.
Make sure the wiring is all go to the TB, has been know for broken wires, but again this would show a code.

I definitely wouldn't just toss parts at it. You need to diagnose the issue. When you installed the scanner did you see what the throttle position was registering and if it was following the pedal or not?

I haven't done that ,
I will read up on it and have a go at it this weekend

Ps I'm new to using the tech2. I'm on a big learning curve,
I am far more experienced with 70 model petrol engine technology

I've never done it or if it's possible, but you maybe able to watch the throttle body work as someone else works the pedal and check the operation to see if it follows the input from the pedal. So if it's hanging up (TB) when the pedal is released quickly, that could give a clue.
You would have to have the ignition on and pull the TB tubing off, obviously.
