. . If It's Not One Thing, , ,

. . :willy:
. . The six blade fan came in so decided it's time to install it and replace the 8" balancer that has been causing so much timing confusion. . Got the fan on and it barely goes into the shroud. . At least a full inch from being half way. .
. . Then the balancer. . Good thing I changed it. . Can't believe what some people do on a car. . This balancer was junk. . Loose on the crank shaft and the keyway was wobbled out to almost twice the normal size. . When I removed the center bolt the balancer actually dropped. . Reached up and slid it off. .
. . Then the replacement balancer. . Get it on. . Nice and tight. . But the pulley is now half a groove from matching the water pump pulley above it. .
. .

Go with a odd number of blades on a fan Unless you like unneeded noise. You might have some wrong pulleys

off which way? if the water pump pulley is 'in', then this might be enough...

or, if the water pump pulley is 'out'. you might be missing this:

. . Oh s#!t. . I think that is it. . Yes, the water pump pulley is farther forward. .

. . noise

. . This is a 1962 Corvette, I doubt that I will hear the fan over the rest of the car. . (insert smile emoji here) . .
. . Yes the pulley that was on there is not right. . Have two others. . One was to large diameter (big block?) and the other stuck out half a groove the other way. . Nuts. .
