. . If It's Not One Thing, , ,

. . The six blade fan came in so decided it's time to install it and replace the 8" balancer that has been causing so much timing confusion. . Got the fan on and it barely goes into the shroud. . At least a full inch from being half way. . . . Then the balancer. . Good thing I changed it. . Can't believe what some people do on a car. . This balancer was junk. . Loose on the crank shaft and the keyway was wobbled out to almost twice the normal size. . When I removed the center bolt the balancer actually dropped. . Reached up and slid it off. . . . Then the replacement balancer. . Get it on. . Nice and tight. . But the pulley is now half a groove from matching the water pump pulley above it. . . . |
Go with a odd number of blades on a fan Unless you like unneeded noise. You might have some wrong pulleys
|
off which way? if the water pump pulley is 'in', then this might be enough...

. . Oh s#!t. . I think that is it. . Yes, the water pump pulley is farther forward. .
|
. . noise
. . This is a 1962 Corvette, I doubt that I will hear the fan over the rest of the car. . (insert smile emoji here) . .
. . Yes the pulley that was on there is not right. . Have two others. . One was to large diameter (big block?) and the other stuck out half a groove the other way. . Nuts. . |
