MN6 Transmission rebuild in Canada

So... I may need one... Any recommendations?

Unfortunately it would seem you guys in the US are just plain luckier with more options...

When doing the rebuild a must I am assuming is the billet forks and bronze fork pads....

If synchros are damaged 3rd and 4th... what options are there...

Any other items...

Would local rebuilders have these options, where would they source them, would it be smarter if I source the parts...

Buy used instead? What I'd do.

I did a light rebuild on my T56 over the winter to replace fork pads and a few other small things. It took me forever but it was my first time. If I were to do it again, I'd send it out to any of the excellent rebuilders in the USA such as Texas Drivetrain Performance, Tick Performance, RPM, etc.

Any GM dealerships in your area? I'm not suggesting that you take it to one, and potentially pay an insane amount for the labor, BUT some of the dealer guys do "side jobs" out of their homes.....

Since there is no location in you heading it is very hard to suggest possible shops to have it repaired. Those who live close to the border near Detroit, Buffalo, Washington, Minneapolis could give you places where you could take it, drop it off and pick it up a week or so later. We have a shop is the Detroit area where all they do is rebuild 6/7 speed manuals for Corvettes, Camaros, Mustangs, etc. They have several hundred on the shelves with various degrees of performance parts from autocrossing to road racing to drags. When mine 2nd gear gave out I had them replace all the wearable parts with HD ones including the input and output shafts.

i am trying to also see a lis of parts i could get for a rebuild.. and in case of synchros what o get for all gears... 3/4 is a must... the rest could use work too i guess..

and from what ive read getting rid of that paper thing... replacing the weak guides and aluminum forks with bronze and billet steel... but what else..

This is not always a good idea I just got screwed on a trans I bought

:iagree:
id never buy a used trans period unless i was familiar with the car. Why do people sell them?

OP take it to any trans shop in Canada they can rebuild it and source upgraded parts for you. No big deal.
