2015 z06?

I'm in the Market for a Z06.

Should I stay away from the 2015's? I've read of some issues...

I'm thinking about a used 2LZ or a new 1LZ.

Thanks. Seth

It will overheat the moment you start the car..........

Not true, bought a 2015 Z06 vert with 6,000 miles, put 3,000 miles on it since I bought it the last day of 2016. Have driven it every day this summer in 95 degree weather can't get the temp above 185 degrees. I drive it hard and everything works perfect.
No complaints here, my Brother has a 2017 Z06 (new) and has had issue's with the trans and overheating, but he tracks his.

I have a 2015 M7 Z06. Track events, drag strips, AutoX - No issues. I have an old post somewhere on here but my C6 had a lingenfelter cam, Billy Boat exhaust, etc. When I was in the market, I test drove a new 2016 Stingray (automatic). After punching the gas on the interstate, I instantly knew 2 things. 1) 460hp was not enough for ME simply because I was use to so much more with my C6. 2) the automatic took the thrill out things for me. Once they pulled out the Z06 from the showroom and I test drove that manual with the added HP, there was no turning back. I knew it was a Z06 or nothing. HOWEVER - unlike many people on this forum, I was not ready to jump on paying a $100,000. I am active duty military, saved well for a great down payment, and ended up finding my vette used with like 6,000 miles and a out the door price of around 65K. This was the only way I COULD get my dream car within the price range while still have the full warranty of a new car. It has been great over the last year (except now being deployed and away). Hope this helps. P.S. I broke 20,000 miles prior to leaving for deployment. No mechanical issues whatsoever

I don't think there is anything wrong with a 15. However I would seriously consider a new 16 as there are a few left at dealers around the country. They have the front camera that's a big help protecting the front end.

The Wife keeps saying:
"Orange" you glad you
got the 2015 ZO6!

I always: :yesnod:

Have 30,000 miles on my MY 2015 and not one issue other than a fix for the cooled seats. Go for it.

I have one for sale. Still under warranty until December 14, 2017.

The only thing I could tell you is wrong with a 15, 16 or 17 is they actually holdvalue very well and with the discounts from the new ones, for me it makes more sense to get a newer one with a full warranty.

42K+ miles. Zero issues related to 15's only. Plus 15s are cheaper and have a more mod friendly tune. Also lighter. :)

Best,
Gene

Zero problems with my '15 as of 17,000 miles. M7. My friend who has an A8 15 has had a few minor problems, but nothing that couldn't be fixed by the dealer in a couple of hours.

Love my '15, but if I was in the market, I'd lean towards '16 to pick up CarPlay and front cameras, to be honest. But I wouldn't turn down a good deal on a 15 that I liked, they're otherwise the same (ie: great cars).

A good point but let me issue a counter point.

As a tech guy I was consumed with trying to get CarPlay to work on my 15 Z06. Some months later I got a 16 Tahoe. I loathe CarPlay so much that I purchased a USB cig lighter charger so I can plug my phone in without activating CarPlay. As for the cameras yeah they could be a benefit for sure but I find myself backing into spots 95% of the time and using the rear camera.

Best,
Gene

Can't you just turn off Carplay on the phone so the system doesn't try to use it?

Better drive train warranty

I have a '15 Z with 25k miles. Worst thing about it was a bad factory alignment and a tilted HUD. It also has 100k mile drive train warranty.

But I want those systems on.

The $1 cig lighter charger was an easy solution.
