My '85 got hit today...

I was in the barber shop waiting and a woman with her son who had just left came in and asked who had the Corvette, and I made the sad walk to see what she had done. She didn't look backing out of her parking space and struck the Corvette in the driver's side quarter panel and door. So now I have the pleasure of dealing with State Farm to get it repaired correctly:ack:

Dang it!:smash:

I really hate people. Did you ask her if she was able to send her text before she hit you? There is just no reason to back into someone especially in a car that small. Good luck with the repair.

:U

Hope the insurance company doesn't do the nasty.

Kens94 08-10-2017 04:31 PM

Boy, I hope she has insurance. I know exactly how you feel. I had a mom back into my new 1999 Grand Prix GT parked at my apartment. I had only had it a month.
Perk up she will be better than new in no time.

JungleCat 08-10-2017 04:42 PM

Man, that's a shame. At least it wasn't a hit and run. Good luck with the repairs.

ETM 08-10-2017 04:45 PM

That sucks. Hope you get it repaired soon and back on the road.

junkyard_dog72 08-10-2017 04:59 PM

Thanks to all for the replies, I anticipate it will be a fight. Her insurance company called me before the police even arrived and was asking about it. I had to clarify that it wasn't an "accident", but instead their client backed into my parked car. Anyone deal with State Farm and their C4?

mic575 08-10-2017 05:05 PM

Thats terrible. Keep us posted on how the repair goes.

sorry man, that sucks. last week my wife was struck by a 13 year old boy on a bike. he ran a stop sign and T boned her in the 2 side doors. 2500 dollars damage on a brand new escape. he was not hurt seriously. now were out 500 dollar deductible. kids mother is a dirtball that is unemployed. probably try to sue us also.

It could be a goner with that minimal hit.

I have agreed value Collector's insurance on my 35th Anniversary C4. Been with State Farm for years. Hopefully you won't have any problems with your claim.

I've played the game before with my 98 Civic. Progressive learned the first time one of their drivers hit me and they tried to get away on the cheap (in 2011, an $1800 offer on a car worth double at the time), the next time a year later one of their drivers hit me they paid out $1200 to repaint panels. Its all a game with insurance, just curious as to how state farm will play it

Ive got General Casualty Insurance on it, the other driver has State Farm.

Man we all feel your shock, :willy: at least she had the courage to let you know what she did. You almost want to thank her... well almost.
I had some idiot back into my rear bumper at the local shops, did a hit and run. Is just a minor paint scrape that 95% buffed out, but some paint got rubbed through. :(

Unfortunately the C4 values are rock bottom, hope they don't write it off as it is an easy but expensive fix.....:ack:
The rear quarter could be repaired however I would get another rear quarter fitted, fiberglass repairs rarely stay looking good.
Paint can bubble and show imperfections months later, unless they know how to do fiberglass repairs and paint preparation.

Good luck from down under, hope your c4 is repaired quickly.

agree, its all a game. they want to pay little as possible and you want the most of course. some people don't fight them. I had a kitchen fire and they tried to give me like 3k dollars. after a long battle with an ignorant adjuster I ended up getting 12k. just hang in there and fight

This raises a question I have. In a situation like this where the car is hit while parked and the person hitting has insurance don't they have to fix even if more than blue book or however "totaled" is figured? Dan

Thats totally sucks.... so sorry... I would be hatin' life! Good luck.

confab 08-10-2017 06:50 PM

Sorry, man.. That sucks. :(

My sons car was hit a couple years ago and the other kids insurance wanted to play blame games. Since the accident was on private property (school parking lot) the police wrote a report but no tickets. However the other kid admitted to the officer that it was his fault.

As soon as the adjuster started jerking me around I told him i would take it to a state Farm "preferred" shop where he could control cost. Or he could keep being a jerk and I'd take it and have it fixed the sue for the damages. State Farm would still end up paying. he knocked of the crap.

Both we and the other family had State Farm.

Funny thing was, when my son called and said his friend hit him, my first question was "what did you say to him?"

The normal standard for loss is they must make you whole. That would mean the fair market value is what you can get. that doesn't necessarily mean "blue book". You may need to do some homework to establish value in case repair cost is too high.
