]Could someone take a look at this carfax and tell me if anything stands out. I really love this.car it has a few electrical things in the service history that I just wanna make sure aren't to serious. Body control module reprog, display replaced, drive tensioner replaced. Car is for sale is frisco Texas. Thanks for any help. They are asking $46k

Corgidog1 08-11-2017 08:38 AM

Seems like more issues than normal with that car. What bothered me the most is front brake rotors at 5K miles. If it were me I'd pass, depending on the price of course.

Joe Z51 08-11-2017 08:41 AM

It's main street motors in frisco tx. $46k price

Did you get a copy of the Service Record from a GM dealer? First thing I would check is why did someone trade it after only a few months. Is there something else that doesn't show up on the Carfax, which does occur.
Also, as this was sold as a Certified GM used car, how long is the bumper to bumper warranty remaining. As a CPO car, there should be one additional year after the three year B2B expires. This car should be fully covered until November 2018. If it isn't I wouldn't get near it. If it is covered to 11/18 and if the GM service record doesn't disclose any additional significant repairs, then I'd consider going for it. If it checks out and you're still in doubt, take it to a different Chevy dealer and have them inspect it.
EDIT: Per the above post, I see that it's on a gravel lot. Find out if it's there on consignment or if its the lot owns it. If the lot owns it, it went the wholesale route. That's not a good sign if it was wholesaled. Despite the slow down in new C7 sales, the used market remains strong. A dealer wholesaling a C7 that should have 15 months on the B2B means someone didn't want to deal with this car.

Awesome info guys! Can any gm dealer give me that report and warranty info?

TXshaggy 08-11-2017 09:21 AM

Sounds like it's for sale on a non-GM used car lot. Check carefully the status of CPO, they usually only transfer from private party to private party and typically terminate when sold to a commercial entity. Read the fine print.

Are you local? If not, I could buzz over there to check out the car for you (I work in Plano and live in Prosper, Frisco is right in the middle). Nothing from the Carfax is alarming to me for a 2014 or 2015. The brake rotors were revised for MY16 and a common issue prior since they warp on their own even with only street use. My car has never seen the track and I had my rotors replaced under warranty. I also had the module reprogramming (recall), the radio repair (required by Chevy before they'll authorize the screen replacement), and eventually the screen replacement due to the common pinched cable. I have not had my tensioner replaced, but that was a hit or miss issue with the 2014/5's. Frankly, consider yourself lucky with the early issues all getting sorted out by the previous owners :D

Before buying my 6K mile '15 Z-51 I took the VIN to local dealer and they pulled all records.... including warranty... for me. Totally clean except for a reprogramming for airbag technical update.

Personally I would balk at the front rotor issue especially, but it has had quite a few other "replacements" in those service records that I would not expect to find this early in a C7 life... my research did not show those issues Kracka pointed out as being typical... they did happen but not widely, that I can tell.

Me... I would walk.... maybe run the other direction.... there are too many good maint. free C7s out there..... warranty is fine, but it is a safety net you hope you don't have to use.... this vehicle has already exhibited a LOT of varied issues... I would go for one with a cleaner record... potentially with less miles........loss of use while in for repair takes the real fun from owning our babies, warranty or not....IMHO... LK

run and run fast - not just the rotors being replaced way too early - tension belt radio etc. forget this pile of crap there is a reason it's on a side lot dealer

:iagree:

Not sure just what makes/made this particular 2015 so attractive to you, especially since it is from a dealer (which will potentially cause you to pay tax vs. private party) but SURELY you have found an increasing amount of great C7 cars/buys out there as owners start targeting a new 2018 or C8.....or exchanging for Motor Home down payment... the Internet is your friend!!!!....smile.

Just my $.02 worth...LK

PS got my 6K mile 2015 Z-51 3LT A8 ('Vert vs. coupe) loaded one owner beauty for just under $50K... no issues and still new car smell.... almost indistinguishable from a new one....and was also still in BtoB warranty.....

Kracka 08-11-2017 11:25 AM

I'll be going to inspect and test-drive the car this afternoon and will report back with my findings :)

Maybe I'll even take an extended lunch and do it early!

Eyeballs of a real owner will tell a lot more.... had a NCRS pal go look at mine before pulling the trigger..... never happier than with my purchase! Good of Kracka to help out....LK:salute:

That said, wisdom might best be to walk away and find a lower mile, lower incident Z-51.... they are out there!!!...LK

Joe Z51 08-11-2017 12:03 PM

Yeah I sure appreciate him doing that for me. I owe him big time!

LimeRay 08-11-2017 01:10 PM

Too many issues, walk or regret it.

curve65 08-11-2017 01:20 PM

IDK, Chevy's had issues with warped rotors since the 80's here and there, so they got replaced, no biggie. Looks like whoever had it, took it in for servicing when necessary and got it tweaked imho.

I'm not sure about you folks down there but up here we're not privy to that info, only registered owners can get copies of service done to that vehicle.
