Finally after 3 years without a Vette I am a proud Corvette owner once again
I have been gone from the Corvette community for a while 2 years and 11 months to be exact. I previously owned Two 1986 C4's and a 1998 C5 I had some health and financial issues I had to part with my C5 which had 350,000 miles on it, I personally put 250,000 of those myself.
I liked the C5 but always enjoyed driving the C4's more because they felt more like what I think a sports car should feel like driving. I decided when I was able to get another Vette it would be a C4. After I sold the C5 I drive my Fiero's for a year and half but when I knew I was going to have stomach surgery and would have sever months with a very sore mid section I had to get something larger so I sold one Fiero and bought a 04 Jaguar, my 1st 4 door car, 1st foreign branded car ever. Precious I have owned Ford's Pontiac's, Dodge's and Chevrolet's Being a former UAW member (started at working at a auto parts plant in 1989) I always felt I should own a car that was as much domestic as possible. I worked on the line that made Corvette seat frames for years. The Jag was a nice car but I missed my Vettes, so when I turned 50 on July 31st I started looking for a Corvette that I could afford. I found a very nice black with red interior 96. So I sold my last Fiero and the owner of the Vette was looking for a bigger family car so I gave him the Jag along with some Cash. I not actually enjoy driving places again. |
Awesome! We need PICs!!!

Congrats and welcome back! post some photos!

Congrats and enjoy. A person having several vettes already my guess is it's a life style for you not car. Good luck with the health and the vette.

Here are some pics If I did this right.
I picked it up yesterday. Today I dropped it off at the shop for new shocks, front alignment, 02 sensor and to get a little body work. I got to drive it a day and a half. I will pick it up next Monday, because we are heading to Cape Canaveral to get on a cruise ship to Grand Turk and the Bahamas. The cruise is my 50th Birthday gift /celebration and the car was my gift to myself. http://imgur.com/cfcn2U0 http://imgur.com/kqpq6OD http://imgur.com/HYldmbV http://imgur.com/NtJDV3J http://imgur.com/Tlwd1UV http://imgur.com/rJuouUY http://imgur.com/L16Udi5 http://imgur.com/mtVXDaL http://imgur.com/UgZtHlc http://imgur.com/IeksGzU |
Welcome back! Enjoy those excursions in the vette. I find myself making excuses just to go for a drive. Nice vette! Looks like it just needs some new weatherstripping. Wish I could have gotten a 6 speed but foot issues prevent that.

After I sold the C5 i hated driving places, Going from having Corvettes for over a decade to driving a 4 door just sucked. I put more miles on the Vette in a day and a half than I would put on the Jag in a month. |
That must've been quite a C5 to have 350K miles on it. Your '96 looks great, welcome back.

Congrats and welcome back! Looks great!

So...what does a C5 with 350k on it bring on Craigslist?
|
C5 is my next favorite Corvette.

Check engine, anti lock and brake warning lights were all on at once! Yikes!
|
welcome back

Looks like you went shopping in my neck of the woods. I've seen that one on the local CL for a few months now.
https://greenville.craigslist.org/ct...218407584.html Maybe you can go back to the shop where he bought the tires and have 'em re-mount the tires/wheels correctly. Congrats and welcome back.  |
Welcome back Jeff! I'm happy to say that I am in a similar position. After a 9 year hiatus I am finally back behind the wheel of a Corvette (where I belong ). With even greater fortune I am back in a 96 Collectors Edition that I owned back in 2004-2006. Not many people get a second chance with the same car but the fates have allowed it for me this time and I intend to enjoy every moment

350k is impressive. And damn you did that in a short time too. At that mileage I feel like I would have to keep it to see how for it could go

Pals convinced me how versatile, economical, enjoyable and reliable C5s are. I've found all that, plus relative ease of fixing the minor bugs. I was surprised to like it so much and by how much attention it draws.:flag: |
Welcome back

I decided to do it anyway because of the miles clicking over to 300,000. Not the smartest thing to do but I figure when its your time to go its your time. There was no one else anywhere away except for my buddy about half a mile behind me |
