'63 Split Window ZO6
Just arrived back home from the Hot August Nights event in Reno Nevada.
Came across this cool car. I talked with the owner, and the owner's son for awhile. The owner purchased this car in 1970 and has kept it ever since. When he purchased the car, he really didn't have any special and/or significant interest that it was a fuel injected car, or that it had the ZO6 package. He just purchased the car because he wanted the Corvette. It still has a roll bar in it that was in it when he purchased the car in 1970. It's in great original condition and he continues to take it to events. In the earlier days, the son stated that his dad drove the car pretty hard (as were many back in the day)! Son states that they have been offered over 100K for the car, which they turned down. More recently, he said others have been throwing around numbers of 200k-300k. Fortunately, he said that they're not going to sell it and it will be handed down through the family. Pretty cool that they're planning to keep it and hand it down. The third pic is a '67 427/435 JE code car. It was bid up to 122,000 but didn't hit the reserve. https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...c3a88797a1.jpg Nice ! I was at Best.Buy this morning and this pulled up. The owner's wife surprised him with it. An original 14,000 mile car. He told me to sit in it while he snapped my pic. No not a Z-06. Still very cool. I had no idea how close to the ground these cars are. |
14K original miles?
Somebody was hoping for a huge collectable. Like you said though...still cool!

why mess up a good thread about a family owned Split Z06 at HAN with a discussion of a brushed tin abomination at Best Buy?

Pat https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...519cd34bda.jpg Pat the picture above does in fact show that this car has the correct master brake cylinder for a 63 Z. (Um, which alone goes for about $10.000 today). I wish that you had taken pictures of the underside, brakes and suspension, because the Z06 is identical to the NON-Z06 other than brakes and suspension...........unless it also has the big tank option, which you did not mention:thumbs: |

No mention of a big tank option because we just didn't talk about it. We did speak of the brakes and suspension though. He kind of laughed and said regardless of the brake upgrade....they're still terrible! Seemed like real good people. Pat |

Many still on the MSO to this day and no miles and likely not worth much more than what the original owner paid for it today. GM said they would build a limited number no more than enough for each dealer to have ONE. People didn't realize that at that time there were over 6000 Chevy dealers. The only money to be made on those cars were the guys sucking in collectors to pay up to $22K for a car that had an MSRP of less than $14K when they were new. |
Yep, my neighbor has one of those brushed aluminum mobiles. Supposed to have ultra low miles too.
And another guy I used to work with had one of the Corvette pace cars locked up in his garage. Again....very limited miles. Thought he would be sitting on a gold mine. Neither one worked out very well! Pat |

Yup, a definite thread hijack by someone who defiinitely doesn't care and apparently just wanted to get his picture into the thread. Otherwise, why the need for the second pic, let alone the first?.:willy: |
It is a CAR forum. I like all cars, some more than others. sometimes it is nice to see something different rather than a steady diet of Corvettes no matter how much you like them.

Hey Guys....It's just a car thread.
Frankie, or anybody else for that matter, can post pics of pretty much anything they want. No offense taken. Frankie has provided a heck of a lot of help to me, as well as several others. Ok...Kerrmudgeon (Robbie)....post away!! LOL! Pat |
OK, its your thread, so whatever you say goes.

1st
Its a Z06 thread, if Frankie wants to bring attention to himself rather than what the OP started, he can excercise his first ammendment rights on his own post. And I am writing this because I feel like it........

Like everyone who uses this forum, I have 1000s upon 1000s of photos of cars, and people around cars, me on vacation, me with my cars, etc, etc. It's a free country, I could load every thread that appears here with photos of cars and people, me on vacation, friends doing whatever, nothing related to the thread that was posted. But so what? I can do what I want and it really is all about me. So, because I can, here is a photo I want to put in this thread. This famous car guy came up at a car show to speak with me and a buddy and admire our vettes. I hope you are all impressed.
https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...7c9371a31.jpeg I added a couple more photos of silver corvettes that I've seen and photo'd. https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...d2f9136f9.jpeg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...aa06a273a.jpeg |
There's a whole Ferrari thread on here (it is The Corvette Forum ? Right ?), a car which I don't give two hoots about....I'm not complaining about it.
Some seem to find ways to be offended daily.... |

Cool ZO6 thanks for sharing.
PS: I posted asking about hose sizes for my 63, got plenty of responses and only one person answered my question. One guy criticized my intake manifold and never answered the question. |
