C7 ZR1 with top down

Skip to 6:30 to see the beast. Wish these guys could of gotten closer, not like the interior would of been different but anything is better than nothing at this point.

Awesome!
However, I'm surprised that if GM really wanted to keep the car secret, why drive it out on the open street? Seems too easy to just pull it into an enclosed truck/trailer and take it to it's destination. This seems like it's planned to draw attention.

keagan 08-16-2017 12:02 PM

Agree!

SpeedyD 08-16-2017 12:50 PM

I think if anything this add validity to the theory what we are seeing is not a ZR1 but an upgraded Z06.

Good catch on the vid but as others, I wish it was a little more up close.

Are we sure it isn't an ordinary C7 with a wing on it?
The video is really poor.

keagan 08-16-2017 01:50 PM

Yeah it is, I don't know anything about Facebook but they were doing a livestream on FB while reviewing the truck. That might be reason for the poor quality. You would think with all the high end phone cameras and DSLR, a HQ shot would show up but then again they were reviewing the truck not the vette who came to crash the party.

Flyboy22 08-16-2017 02:02 PM

Why couldn't there be convertible ZR1? The whole point of the C7 frame was to be stiff enough to allow the convertible to work on the same frame, so that all the old guys who wanted a vert AND the top dog corvette could have their cake and eat it too.

sunsalem 08-16-2017 03:43 PM

The ZR1 (or whatever it is), appears to be a track-focused car, not a cruiser.
As such, a vert. version makes no sense whatsoever.
If someone wants more than 650hp for cruising, then they should just change pulleys or possibly even the SC.

Fireeagle 08-16-2017 03:54 PM

Might be a tough sell. We'll see when it's available.

Connman 08-16-2017 04:12 PM

Marketing...they have to create a buzz. They love the "spyshots".

I think Chevy is taking a page out of McLaren and Ferrari's book by offering their track car as a convertible and coupe (There was a 675 LT Spider and a 458 Speciale Aperta).

Stop the tease GM, we are getting tired of it! :toetap:

Crunch527 08-16-2017 05:19 PM

This is as bad as a Big Foot or UFO sighting...

johnglenntwo 08-16-2017 05:50 PM

If GM was smart the Wing would have been there 10-years ago! ;)

The Cups too!

Smart strategy to offer as many versions as possible to increase sales while utilizing existing parts.
If you want a zr1 coupe, they offer a zr1 coupe and convertible - why care?
Same thing with guys that complain about the zr1 having real aero - they want every version to be configured only their way, regardless of the fact that their favorite configuration will continue to be offered.

Z0HS1CK 08-16-2017 07:06 PM

Looks totally staged.

Even the dudes filming didn't seem that surprised to say the least. Just, "ohhh and look to our left, there is a zr1". In the most calm voice lol

johnglenntwo 08-16-2017 07:16 PM

Does the forum have any Minimum age requirements!? ;)

Very true and possible. Just nothing Chevy has done before

Which brings us to Exhibit A: The ZL1 1LE, does anyone here not understand the mission of that car? MANUAL ONLY is also the next indicator that it was meant to be a drivers car for sure.

Which then takes us back to 2009 Exhibit B: The C6 ZR1, also track focused and MANUAL ONLY meaning it was meant to be a drivers car as well as team Camaro took this aspect (SORT OF, without stating the obvious) and put it in the ZL1 as not another car entirely like team Corvette but another package.

Which leads us to the conclusion that in all honesty, we won't be able to guess what the heck GM is up to with this upcoming corvette lol. You have two scenarios, a better cooled, refreshed Z06, or a more affordable, more options ZR1 nameplate. All i know, is that my Credit Card is ready and I can't wait
