ZR1 Prototype

Spotted this a couple of days ago. Walked right up to it and it had carbon ceramic rotors and said "ZR1" clearly on the wheels like the Z06 does. These seem to more clearly show the cars details than most pics I've seen online so I thought I'd share.

Thanks for pics.
Question I have is where did you see this?
Live in general vicinity of Bowling Green/Detroit, maybe?

Steve_R 09-01-2017 10:08 AM

I can't tell what it is because it's camouflaged so well.

Seriously, why do car companies do that? It doesn't hide anything, and actually attracts attention. Perhaps that's the end goal?

dmaxx3500 09-01-2017 10:16 AM

their just teasing us

The camo covers the "new" body panels/components. No matter how small the change, it represents something different than what is already offered, so GM wants to hide these components until the car debuts. So far we've seen red, yellow, silver, and white test mules.

Yeah, I know that. Except the way they do it doesn't hide squat, it accentuates it. If they wanted camo they'd wrap it flat black or something that doesn't scream "LOOK AT ME!" That's even more true when they only put camo on some parts of the car as in the OP's pics.

Love the new design of the nose, but wow...that's quite the bulging hood.

We have yet to see a coupe with the small wing, only the vert, right? Wonder if that has something to do with the retractable top of the vert and the wing being to big for it to work properly?

The side vent appears to be a new split-vent design. Hadn't seen that before.

:yesnod: Yep it's part of GM's master plan to tease the faithful Corvette fans, like us, who know the difference, but add to sense of mystery to the general public. The camo is better the black covers from the original test mules that really hide the details. In this new Internet age, GM knows exactly how to play by the new rules.

Great pics, thanks for posting.

Next time slide a smoke bomb under the car. When he sees the smoke, hopefully his first reaction will be to pop the hood and see where it is coming from. Then snap some pics of that new 2.6L supercharger :lol:

(I'm completely kidding btw.)

hangman 09-01-2017 05:27 PM

I know that everyone is saying the big bulge is for a larger super charger on top of the engine. But, what if that bulge is to accommodate a new DOHC 32valve monster engine? Since DOHC engines are taller than pushrod engines, have a big bulge on the hood to accommodate it would not be too far fetch.

That's beyond far fetched.
