GM's C7 ZR1 Reveal - FINALLY!

Since GM has done very little to hide the new C7 ZR1, I guess they decided to reveal it in a non-conventional manner too.

Here's the full 7 minute "chase" video...

And while we still wait...and wait...and wait...look at how it appears that the high wing is supported in this photo.

OK, what am I seeing about how the wing is supported?

And what is the sticker on the left rear bumper in the pic?

tome 09-11-2017 07:37 PM

He is going to have some explaining to do......... maybe the last time we see this guy......:D

Dan Dlabay 09-11-2017 07:37 PM

That decal on the back is a VP racing gas decal.

Looks good...it seems as though the convertible has the smaller wing while the coupe has the bigger wing (most of the time).

The non-camo'd portion on the inside of either taillight shows something I hadn't seen before.

proexpert 09-11-2017 08:50 PM

I think the camo is stupid, but thanks for sharing anyway.

Bob-G 09-11-2017 09:10 PM

There is no way I could get past that "erector set" of a wing, but to each his own.

rob62 09-11-2017 09:35 PM

No,especially with 750+ H.P.

Thunder22 09-11-2017 09:38 PM

Would be pretty funny if he was just some guy riding around with camo on his GS :)

jagamajajaran 09-11-2017 09:40 PM

Wouldn't it!? But the long video shows it's not...but I wondered that at first until I saw the whole thing.

that car is on the ground. splitter would be toast in my neck of the woods.. no gap in front fender or rear? any way they would put some lift mechanism under there? and those front fenders are wiiiiiiiide..

lakemg 09-11-2017 10:03 PM

What's a guy gotta do to get that gig? I think I was destined for the job of riding around all day performing data collection on new Corvettes...

dmaxx3500 09-11-2017 10:09 PM

the two center tail pipes are white,

GM/corvette engineers are just screwing with everybody,,they probably have 10+ corvette test cars 1/2 covered in camo, running around just to screw with everybody

TBIRD57 09-11-2017 10:46 PM

i am definitely

saving my money for the C8 more than ever.

Sure, but it doesn't tell me anything about the wing...

///ADMAN 09-12-2017 03:59 AM

Why was he wearing gloves :confused2:

Poor-sha 09-12-2017 07:53 AM

It sure looks like there is a portion of the rear fascia that folds up to be parallel with the road. Is this some sort of dynamic aero? It would explain why the rear fascia has had camo on it on all the previous mules.

It doesn't look like the rear wing is mounted to that piece though so I doubt the entire wing raises and lowers. One of the previous low wing videos showed the wing supports bolted to the rear decklid.

Kent1999 09-12-2017 08:26 AM

I'm going to go along with others and guess the coupe wing raises and lowers, and the new sections inboard of the tail lights are part of the doors or other mechanism.

Could be that GM is testing out the wing more in the upper/high position -- in the lower position it will be invisible to driver and wouldn't likely add much to on-road vehicle dynamics, so no need to test as much in that config. So that might explain why some mules have the wing fixed/bolted in the upper position.

In these shots you def can see that there are new, wide spatless front fenders -- was harder to see in previous shots. Wouldn't be surprising if GM instituted a restriction on ordering the new front fenders from the parts dept. From a lot of comments here on the forum, there will be a lot of current Z06 owners wanting to upgrade to spatless.
