Torque Monster Super Charged TPI 383 Anyone?

Just stumbled across this on my local Craig's list:

A forged, 4 bolt mains 383 stroker with a TPI intake, Procharger D1SC, and water to air intercooler, headers- fully assembled and comes with crate and stand for $6,500.

I can't even imagine the torquey fun. You'd surely need huge rear flares to put the torque to the ground.

I'm having fun just imagining this combo. 20 mpg and what like 600+ ft lbs of torque??!? lol!

Wouldnt if you gave it to me.....its greasy stock junk with a blower bolted to it and dressed up with rattlecan. Huge gamble.....Bet more like a little over 400hp and sub 500tq if it runs

I don't see anywhere the seller is claiming 600 lbs torque?

But unless there is serious port work done, I don't think the tpi can flow that much air.

My understanding is that @ 8 PSI you take whatever airflow and HP you had and take it times 1.5 as a good estimate; no?

I guess I'm sitting out on an island of my own, but I just get excited when people do monster torque builds in a light SBC package; long runner+ forced induction just sounds like stress reducing fun to me. I think they're nutty enough to be amusing.

I understand how having a car that keeps trying to kill you the second you make a mistake could get old, though...

If you actually want to do a blower motor, Lars here on the forum posted some detailed builds. The main problem was figuring out how to make a custom mount to clear our A-arms

Stock TPI tubes will barely feed a normally aspirated 350, let a lone a boosted 383. TPI was designed for the 305. TPIs used to have large tube runners but haven't made them in a long time.

Yeh... But boost cures small ports to a large extent. You can flow the same volume of air, but because the air is pressurised there's a greater mass of air flowing through the same port. Having said that, and without being able to see the ad, I don't think a tpi intake will offer much torque advantage when under boost in a blow through application, and centrifugal superchargers normally do very little for performance until you're up in the revs, so not sure the excitement about high torque at lower rpm is warranted. I expect this would run similar to an n/a tpi at low rpm, with increased output from ~3000rpm (dependent on pulley ratios etc) up, ultimately probably limited by the tpi intake...

I bought new large tube AS&M TPI runners a year or two ago.
