1969 AIM index

Does anyone have an index for the 1969 AIM? I'm not talking about the table of contents in the beginning but an actual index. Like I could look up power steering and it would show me which pages contain power steering. I'm getting tired of going through that thing page by page!! If you could email, fax, etc it would be great.

Thanks.

Flipping thru the 69 AIM is the price you have to pay for owning one. Get used to it.

try a copy on CD

In the early pages of the AIM there is an index of UPC codes. Mine is within the first 10 pages.

I have a copy on CD also but it has no index and going back and forth from the garage, cleaning up, looking on computer and getting back is also a pain. I see that Ecklers sells an index but wondering if its a true index if anyone has it.

there is no index on the CD but if you are opening it as a PDF there should be a search function.

If you know how to use it, you can find what you want. If you don't, then you have to search for stuff until you understand it.

The AIM is a set of installation aids that was created for the various workstations at the vehicle final assembly plant. There was NEVER any intent [by GM] to compile all of them into a single document for benefit of the vehicle owner. However, it is nice that someone in the Final Assembly group saved these documents for later use when making repairs to these cars.

You'll get used to it... But their is no EASY button....

Look for "UPC 9" pages== that's the steering section.

"Power steering" is an option. The section on [base vehicle] manual steering is detailed in the front sections of the AIM.

The 'options' are shown in the rear sections of the AIM, and they are listed by their option code.

Mid America Enterprises, now called Mid America Motorworks were the people that we should thank for having our Corvette AIM's. I have a 68 and 69 first issued AIM, and they had an index in the front. But the newer AIM issues have different page numbers. My early copies say Chevrolet drafting graphic at the top of every page. Lou.

Thanks just checked mine. Of course they dont say Chevrolet drafting graphic on top. I might have to sit down one rainy day and go through it and type up an index.

This is for my 74 but it might get you close to the page and part you need.

It got easier for me to find stuff in the AIM after I figured out it follows the same organization (more or less) as the service manual.

After you use/read the AIM a couple dozen times you will know where everything is.

Our Assembly manuals are OCR'd.. Optical Character Recognized. So you copy it to your hard drive, then open it with Adobe.. and you then search "Power Steering" It will take you to the pages.
