BMS Drop-In Filter Impressions
I had been kicking around the idea of a CAI or something similar since purchasing my 2017 Z06. I decided to try the BMS Drop In Filter after the vendor commented on a thread I started.
I installed the filter a few days ago and to be honest, there is a noticeable difference immediately after installing the filter and doing some spirited driving. I have the say the most noticeable thing I see is the throttle response is almost instantaneous compared to the way it felt with the stock filter. I was skeptical about a filter alone adding close to 30 whp on any car, but I have to say there is no doubt there is a significant increase in the car vs the stock filter. Kudos to BMS! |

Kudos to BMS! hate leaving the easy power on the table. Yes the stock filter is the same filter GM designed for the 455 horse motor and used it on the 650 horse engine. Even the 455 engine gains some from an intake or K&N filter. The Z06 gets pretty big numbers from filters and intakes Just like the Halltech gets (605 rwhp with just the Halltech on my current m7 car)you get more but at the cost of a aftermarket airbox and more money. Impressive power increase but could be better quality. The Vararam is new and haven't seen if it is for the Z06. |
According to UPS mine is being delivered today and my Katech PTB arrives Thursday.

I installed the BMS drop in filter in my 17Z A8 a few weeks ago and all is great. Car runs perfectly fine and no check engine light. Best first mod for anyone not wanting to mess with potential warranty issues.
|
Yeah, I have it on my 2017 Z06 and I think it's a great mod for the price. Car is a bit more responsive to throttle inputs and supercharger whine is a bit more noticeable. No CEL either.

have one too, wish we had more products like this available lol. brainless flawless high quality parts!

Anyone tested these at the strip??
|
I was one of the unlucky ones. I installed the BMS filter on my '17 M7 and got the check engine light before getting out of the driveway. Changed back to the stock filter and all is fine. Read the threads about '17 being more sensitive to intake changes. If some body wants one with literally no miles on it, PM me I'll take an offer

Wow. I also had no check light. No problem on my 17’ M7.

is the traction. .1 tenth better in the 60 ft far out ways any intake mod! So it will not show till you do a rolling side by side run with another stock car. But it is there! |
Are these washable or throw away?
|
^^^ Not washable.

The big thing at the strip far worth more than 25-30 rwhp when your in a Z06

I went 10.50s with the green filter with a 1.66 60ft and posted the same 60ft with AFE so I don't believe there is added traction issues with adding a filter. I'm interested to see who track tested their bms filter as I did the green filter bf I purchased one. I removed the afe bc my car was too lean and it went into reduced power mode while at the 1/4 track. |
To move something quicker requires more energy/power.
With traction you get a quicker 60 foot time with additional HP, not less. This also applies to longer distances too. :D

A8 17' loved the BMS but requires a tune if you plan on exceeding 140mph, mine spit a code out and went reduced power mode, changed it back to stock and never had another problem all the way to 160+
