Newb asking on F/I on LS7

Total newb here when it comes to the LS motors and currently I don't have a Corvette but I'm looking to buy one soon. I've been lurking on here for a minute trying to educate myself by reading threads and looking online. But here are my questions.

How much boost can the LS7 handle? I know its a high compression motor and there could be a valve that drops, but lets say it passes the wiggle test, what can the motor handle?

A buddy of mine is running stock block, rods, pistons and crank, but did heads, cam, meth, blower, headers cat delete, corsas, injectors, BAP and radiator. hit 802 on one dyno and 780 on another. Is this a ticking time bomb? Is he good to go? Is this doable for all Zs?

Thanks, just trying to educate myself.

TICK - TICK - TICK :d

Also 802 with a BAP and no dedicated fuel system? I find that very hard to believe.

Yeah, that's what I figured.

Let me ask about the fuel system.

That’s pushing the limits of a stock LS7. I’m making 837whp on my forged LS7 with a Ti trim, cam, meth, headers, secondary drive, and nothing more than injectors and BAP. I’m definitely at the upper limits of what a BAP is capable of supporting, though.

He's just using a BAP.

Sounds like a time-bomb to me. If you want a blown "Z06", you're much better off to buy a Grand Sport with a blower. LS3s love boost and the GS has the majority of the Z06 parts/look. I bought my GS instead of a Z06 specifically because I knew I was going to put a blower on it. Been very happy with it, and never regretted not getting a Z06.

With all those mods and a Ti blower 800 no problem.....Safe, No! Stick with an LS3 if you want to run boost reliably or be ready to build a forged LS7 if you want something that will take some abuse and last

my boosted LS7 lasted 3k miles on the blower before the blocked cracked between cyl 7/8. They are not boost friendly motors, walls are too thin. I had every supporting mod with a P1SC making 792 rwhp. I have seen guys that make ~700 rwhp last longer but they are still on borrowed time. I wish I would have listened when I put the blower on my car years ago and pulled the LS7, sold it for good money and put a boost friendly motor in it to make power. You live and you learn.

Does "every supporting mod" include meth and E85?

camarokidz28 11-15-2017 03:17 PM

800 on a stock fuel system with just BAP... I have the stage 1 A&A with z06 pump and a BAP and I plan on upgrading it before I switch to e85 and aim for 730-750 on e85 with meth.

I have about 40K miles on my LS7 Eforce that makes about 680 at the wheels after several back to back dyno pulls, engine red hot. I do have forged pistons and slightly thicker head gaskets but all else is oem and have meth. The tuner did it his way using straight meth and BAP with my 3" pulley. He said I was not running out of injector (because I was pretty set on larger injectors) so I followed his advice. I just dont have confidence at WOT heading up mountains. The car surges a bit.
I run it hard almost every morning besides Manhattan driving.

The original motor broke just as 'Nino S' describes above. But I'm convinced that was due to poor tuning not strength.
Fuel system upgrades are the best way to go since meth cannot guarantee equal distribution to each cylinder if being used to increase fuel/air ratio unless you simply dump in allot of straight meth. Which is what my tuner has set me up with.
Larger injectors and even larger or additional fuel pump would be the way to go if starting from scratch then use meth for cooling and octane increase. The car will run smoother too.
