Cat delete pipes w/stock headers

I have a Borla O/R X and am looking to delete the primaries w/o changing the headers. Does Borla or anyone else make anything?

AFE makes them and forum member Norcal.

A car with headers should be tuned and there goes the warranty. A car with the cat deletes doesn't need a tune. If you look through the thread, there is a lot of welding and fabrication that goes into the cat deletes. I'm just an observer and have no dog in the fight.

if one is wanting to mod the car, do you think they are worried about warranty ? just sayin

I think it being an easier swap option of cat deletes vs Headers in event you need to go to stock for those not doing pulley / having a tune, just looking at simple mods for good gains as they're said to be pretty good and not too spendy!

AFE has a pretty good Black Friday deal on their cat pipes.

Catless for $599, HFC for $879.

I'm pretty sure that if you remove the cats, you'll get a CEL unless you tune out the CEL which is why a lot of guys don't want to go with headers.

One with headers would gain the best performance if tuned, but there are a couple header options that will allow you to install them without needing to tune out a CEL.

AFAIK the only headers you can install w/o a tune are shorties. If you drop all 4 CATs, you will drop a code. If you tune out the CAT codes, your warranty is hosed with the ECM tune.

You can delete the rear CATs w/o a tune and not toss a code as they are not monitored like the front ones are.

In the future, after my extended warranty is done, I will consider LTs, no CATs and a tune. ONLY when I quit the warranty path.

Elmer - I've had great success with the Kooks 1 7/8" LTs + Kooks Green cats + Kooks x-pipe with NPP mufflers. I have no CEL and I have not tuned it. I'll eventually tune it when out of warranty, but for now, I'm leaving it as is because I primarily just wanted louder/more aggressive exhaust. This is the only mod to my car. I know of a couple other guys on here who did get a CEL with this setup, but they were also running aftermarket cold air intakes/air filters. My air intake is still totally stock right down to the original air filter.

Buy a lottery ticket! You're walking on water! :D I've never seen LTs not toss a code, maybe because I don't keep CATs when I do LTs.

That's the key with mine. The intent of the green cats is to prevent a CEL yet still perform well. I'd go catless, but hate all the exhaust fumes that you get with it.
