ZR1 not being sold in Europe?
 

I don't think that's a good idea we need to make this a global car. Just think how many Porsches are floating around North America now how many Corvettes or any American car do you see in Europe. GM should rethink that

They can't. If you read the articles and information posted here, the car doesn't meet Euro pedestrian impact standards. GM made the conscious decision not to design the car to meet those specs.

But this needs to be a global car other countries have to meet our laws. If it's only sold in America...

They should have done a twin turbo drivetrain and the hood wouldn't have been an issue. Ford GT, Ferrari, Porsche ....

There are many great motorcycles and cars that do not meet US standards and cannot be sold here. This will just make the Euro Gray Market want it that much more. Porsche, Ferrari, the big 3 Japanese Motorcycle Cos, and many others for example make vehicles that the U.S. legally cannot import.

Every C7 platform EXCEPT the ZR1 is offered in Europe.

It was clear in the magazine article why. Regs in Europe, pure and simple. Live with it.

Other countries outside of the US and Europe use a combination of US and European laws plus some local laws.

If GM can sell the ZR1 in the US, Canada, Mexico and some other countries who accept US laws (even if they also accept Europe laws) then they will do so. Right now the ONLY place it cannot be sold is Europe, South Africa, and Australia. But no C7 can be sold in South Africa or Australia because it is a LHD cars (some RHD countries allow low volume LHD, others do not, those two do not).

Ford can't sell the GT350 in European countries for similar reasons (not the hood, but it doesn't meet some unique European law which is superfluous in nature).

The only thing Europe has correct is the lighting laws. They can have laser headlamps and we can't because our lighting standards are archaic.

It's one thing to offer it but if no one is buying it doesn't really matter.

Interesting that the rendering shown by Car and Driver appears to have the larger side mirrors with LED repeaters that were only put on European models. :crazy:

I had read back when it was release it was not legal to sell in Europe because it did not meet their minimum visibility out the front windshield. It was primarily due to the large raised plenum.

That's a huge don't care for me. There seems to be many laws that want to ruin your fun over there. Let them just keep making dumb laws.
