Subject car is a 1966 coupe originally yellow repainted resale rally red when body off restored.

|

|
Owner says original engine, trans, rear. 327/350 4 speed, leather but not coded for it. Repo side exhaust and KO wheels, PS, PB (not original MC) and PW. Body off resto 1500 miles ago. Nice car.

With a car like do you think the owner is going to agree to a discount becouse it’s the wrong color per the trim tag.

The next buyer might be thinking the same thoughts you have. Or they might not care.

This is why I think this whole #s matching thing is bs I am only asking about the hit for wrong body color. Trim tag shows the car to be yellow with standard vinyl. |

This is why I think this whole #s matching thing is bs IIRC, seat material is given 24 points, so a change to leather would be a 12 point deduction if it's the same color, as the material doesn't match the trim tag, i.e. black vinyl replaced with black leather. If it's a change of both color and material, it's a 100% deduction, which would be 24 points. From the Judging Reference Manual: Change of Interior Color or Fabric: 50% originality deduction on every item affected by the alteration. (An item exhibiting both color and fabric change would receive a 100% deduct for that item.) |

It's a standard deduction on the NCRS judging sheets. 50% on originality if it's a fabric change only, and not a color change.

Of course not. The NCRS goes to painstaking lengths to state that their awards and the judging process are not to be construed as price valuation criteria. Off the cuff ? $15k for repaint and $3500 for interior change. That will get some points back but doesn’t make the car original.

Good info but can you relate that to dollars?
Al Knoch and Corvette America sell interior kits, and I believe each manufactures their own products. I'd check their prices. |
In The Book of Jeff, a change from that original yellow to Resale Red is a deal killer. I wouldn't even be interested. Of course, the Book of Jeff only matters to me---- as I'm its author.

A nice looking C2 with a crate 350 painted any color of the rainbow can do well in Concours Judging. |
