oh no! not another Cell phone holder question!

yep it is............Sorry guys
So here is my specific dilemma, I am looking for a non permanent mount for my phone so when I go to a show I can remove it. I don't want an airvent mount because I don't want to risk breaking the vents (they weren't designed to have a cell phone bouncing on them so I just don't want to risk it) and a suction cup to the windshield not only leaves a circle on the windshield when you pull it off but in the summer it heats your phone up so quickly that the phone will shut down due to over heating. I don't can't use the CD mount because my aftermarket HU doesn't even have a cd slot, and lastly I use my cup holder to hold drinks. So with all those conditions in mind.............anyone have a good suggestion?

If I do not have a passenger, I just place mine on the passenger seat. Otherwise, I have found that the phone will sit beside the e-brake handle and is within easy reach should you need it.

I kinda stick mine in the "cup holder" once in a while, usually just on the passenger seat though.

I don’t allow any drinks in my car :) so, I went with the Macally adjustable automobile cup holder - expands to fit tightly in the cup holder - I got the long neck but would probably do the short neck one if I did it again.

Looks like a cool holder. Is there enough of a "cup holder" in the C5 for this to grab on to? The C5 cup holder is very shallow which is why it sucks.

A couple have posted this one that clips to your dash and designed for the C5

I picked up one of these at the local Target for $24 and it works great:

I stick it on the center vent, just to the left of the thumb adjuster.

The nice thing about it is, it's sturdy, quickly removable, and I can use it with any other car.

Steve,

Fit perfectly and securely - easy to put in - easy to take out - pretty clever gadget actually - got mine thru Amazon but other places sell them as well -

the drawback to that is that it clips to the air vent which I would rather not do since the airvents were never designed to hold that much weight

ya but it is not very removable for car shows plus my center console is painted and I wouldn't want to scratch up my console

I use a cup holder called the dual travel buddy.

I have one of these to hold my phone in my truck so my phone has the metal plate on the back.
In the Z I usually just put my phone horizontally in front of the ashtray door. Problem was that on hard acceleration it would fall down into the gear shift. So I glued a couple of really strong magnets to the backside of the ashtray door and now it stays really well and I didn't hack up my dash, get sticky stuff on it, or block a vent.

I really like that idea and really is what I am looking for is a good clean install on it but when I go to a show it doesn't look out of place. but the only issue is that the new double din unit I got got rid of the ashtray door and now just has an open pocket there

My $6.99 clip on air vent holder does not vibrate, holds my iPhone 6 very solidly, has been there for almost 4 years and has not done any damage to the air vent. It is instantly removed or re-applied. You are a worry wart.

I vote window suction cup, uses a magnet, then you can spin it and also have a camera. And if u get an LG g6 you can have wide angle.

I bought one that fits and clips into the CD player slot. Amazon. It does however cover most of your radio.
Something similar to this:

Buy a belt holder

ZEEZERO-6 12-04-2017 04:31 AM

kindly ask your husband to hold it for you ...

Buy a suction window mount...period. Your wasting your time/money with those stick on magnet mounts... The magnet part work great, but the crappy glue that sticks to the dashboard comes off on the first really hot day or really cold day...they just cant support the weight of most phones today...

x2 I've never heard of a single automotive HVAC vent that was designed for a phone holder, but there a millions of these products out there, and they work great - if the dash and vents are configured to allow it, and the C5 works great. I you want a big cradle sticking out like a sore thumb from your windshield, cup holders, or CD slot, every time you park and remove your phone, look elsewhere. These vent mounts are pretty much invisible when empty. Some just might not like the stealthy looks? I dunno?
