Hood ventilation options?

Though I'd not want to really mangle the hood or buy an aftermarket one... Has anyone put Trans-Am Firehawk style heat-extractors on their hood for forced-induction assistance.

I suspect "throwing snow" meth would be the way to go, however, but I'm looking for idle solutions.

Vented hood does help with heat soak but I saw no difference driving down the road aside from maybe a little less lift past 150 mph. From a performance standpoint do the meth....

I know some people, for a cheap way, remove back weather stripping at windshield cowl, and some have spaced hood latches to keep hood slightly raised (does not line up with fenders). I do not know how effective either are....

The late 5th Gen Camaro SS/Z28/ZL1 hood vent fits the curve of a C6 hood surprisingly well if you are willing to cut a hole in the middle of your hood. There is a big thread on here about it with tons of pictures of them installed.

Not my car, but here is a post from someone else with the same setup: LINK

As said above hood helps with lift, almost nothing for cooling or power.

meth is what you want but you can always try this hood vent.....

Worst place to put it. That's a very high pressure area and will slow air through the coolers. Putting vents right after the coolers on the hood is the best option. Forwarned: your engine bay will get dirtier quicker with good vents as the road debris gets pulled up.

The TrackSpec vents are pretty nice. I just got mine this week.

BigMonkey73 03-16-2018 10:50 AM

Following: I'm interested in installing the TrackSpec or similar vents.

The only reason I want to do so, however, is to help reduce engine temps while pushing it hard during road racing. I already have meth, so if this won't help..then I'd rather not cut into the hood.

I just got my TrackSpec vents in too. There are a lot of options but I got these because of cost and to reduce under hood pressure at speed. Will send pics once they are installed.
