Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 Review
 

It was time to replace the original tires on my '14 vert, and since it's my DD in western CO unless there is snow or ice on the road, I wanted all season tires. After looking at the options I got Michelin PS A/S 3 tires installed week. They're ZP and AS rated, so the right choice for me.

So far they are noticeably smoother, which surprised me a bit since they're ZP. They still have soft tread compound as they pick up loose gravel just like the PSS did when they were new. One very noticeable difference is that the scrubbing on slow tight turns is gone.

It was 16 degrees this morning when I drove to work. I kept it in Sport mode and got on it hard in a safe place to see how they'd hook up in temps that cold. They hooked up well with no loss of traction. Cost was just under $1,200 installed at Discount Tire, which is the only place I'll trust, and they made no attempt to sell me nitrogen. So far I'm happy with my choice. :thumbs:

I don't typically drive in snow, but will try them out when we get a bit on the roads and update this thread with my impressions of them in those conditions.

These will be the same tires I put on mine when my factory ones wear out. Ran A/S ZP RF before and liked them alot.

The French make a few decent items:

1. Used firearms - only dropped once

I bought my ‘16 Stingray in September 2016. Had the A/S 3+ on my car by Thanksgiving. Put the OEM Super Sports back on in July then back to the A/S 3+ on Halloween. If you aren’t tracking your car, they are more than adequate for daily driving. I imagine I’ll get another summer out of the super sports then I’ll just stay with the A/S 3+.

Yep, this my 2nd winter season on the AS3+, and they are indeed fantastic tires. They have great grip in both very cold and very warm temps.

I have the OEM PSS on a 2nd set of wheels, and put them back on for summer, but quite frankly, I prefer the AS3+ for street use year round. Things might be different on the track, but there's no noticeable performance degradation on the street even in summer.

Yep, put the same on at 32k and now have 10k on the tires.
I would say that they're about 1/2 the softness between tour and sport. I can run S on more surfaces without shaking me and the car apart and the T setting is very nice for the long haul on choppy interstates.

They are great for touring and letting you get out in cold weather. As long as the dreaded salt is not on the road away we go.

Now, having said that about the 3 series tires, I miss the feel of the oe tires. The turn in and the quickness of the chassis dynamics is diminished when you go away from the Pilot Sports.

So........ I found a silver set of OE take offs and am working on getting a set of OE tires and pressure sensors to fit it up for Summer back road blasting. I hate to take off the Chrome wheels for even a minute but (yep, I'm that guy) in the name of fun I will.

I tracked my C6 but since my C7 is a vert it won’t see a track, so I plan to run these year round.

When I bought the car, we talked about the need for that second set of wheels and tires. Got the tires right away, waited until the summer for the second set of wheels. Got the Z06 replicas from Fla. Speed Shop for the OEM’s, so it’s like I have a Z51 look for winter, and an alternate look for summer. But the winter look will eventually win out...

I put the AS3+ on my car about 9 months ago. I Love em.

The tires talked about are 18/19s? Did they release the 20s yet? Last I heard was sometime in late December.

19/20s in Z51 sizes have been available since Nov 2016, which is when I put them on my car. GS/Z06 sizes are not available yet, and Michelin has been saying "soon" forever, but more than a year later, they are still not in production with no promised date.

I already decided that's what I will be going to when my 18 needs tires.

You should eventually notice these will not pick up anywhere near as much rocks as the PSS tires.
I run 18-19 wheels for cold weather mounted with the Original version Mich A/S ZP tires with the big V shaped tread design.
The PSS tires are wear rated 300.
The Original Mich A/S ZP and the new A/S 3+ZP are rated 500.
My 19-20 Mich PSS tires look like pin cushions there's so many rocks stuck into the tire rubber.
While my older Mich A/S don't get any rocks stuck in the tire rubber.
I'm also planning on the getting the A/S 3+ZP for my 19-20 wheels for year round use :cheers:
