Z06 emblem on seat needs cleaning
How would you guys recommend cleaning the Z06 emblem/stitching on the seat headrests. Would just soapy water be best or is there some cleaning product that works wonders? Thanks.

I would think any spot/stain remover would work. Believe it or not, many years ago I learned that glass cleaner (Windex, etc.) is real good at getting stains out of carpet. If you have a bottle of Windex handy, spray some on a soft rag and gently (to avoid damaging the stitching) wipe away...

My mom owns an embroidery shop, so I asked her. There are two concerns here:
1- Embroidery thread is thin and easy to break 2- the color fastness of the thread used is an unknown. Some threads are VERY color fast, others will run from simple warm water exposure. We don't know what thread that is. I can try to have her take a look at mine and maybe she can make an educated guess about how color fast the thread is. Obviously for the first concern, you just have to be gentle with it to avoid breaking/fraying threads. I'll try to follow up here about the second issue later today. |
Adams upholstery cleaner worked great for me.

I dabbed mine with a little rug cleaner

Thanks for the input. I will probably start with the least abrasive suggestion and try the others as necessary. If any other ideas come up please post them for others to see.

I wonder if something like this would work?
http://amzn.to/2kwAKFI I have used it on shoes and it makes the leather and stitching look like new. Takes the dirt out of the threads very well. Or how about Woolite? That is made for delicate things, right? I have never used it before myself. Just throwing some ideas out there. I'd like to clean the embroidery on my floormats so I might try that. |
So I went to my mom's embroidery shop yesterday and completely forgot to have her look at the seats while I was there.
I was thinking about this though, it makes sense that the embroiderer who did these seat covers would use the most durable color fast thread given the application. I mean it isn't a lightweight black jacket or something along those lines. I'll try to remember to have her take a look at it the next time I go over there, but I'd bet any spot cleaner that isn't too harsh will be fine. |
