I thought you would all like these new ZR1 pics I took tonight. Lots of exposed carbon fiber on this one. Really looks nice, but you gotta love Michelin snow tires on this car - luckily for now the roads are clear - but in Michigan you know the snow is going to come. I can't imagine driving this through the winter months up here, but that's what they are doing for testing. :)

Overexposed!? ;)

This sucker better rock that track!:toetap:

They are Michelin Pilot Alpin PA4’s, run all last winter by the Corvette team and even in winter Kapuskasing testing. There are pictures on this forum of the PA4’s this winter on owner Z06’s (including tread closeups).

Call Luke at TireRack: *(800) 428-8355;4362‬. If anyone can locate a set, it is he.

:iagree:

I'm running these same exact tires on my Z06. Ordered them from Luke.

Finally - a ZR1 without black wheels!!

Myfourth1 12-22-2017 11:38 AM

So they make snow tires for the ZR1 but they can't make All Season tires for the Grand Sport? Strange....

I’m with you. I like silver wheels and chrome may be just a touch tacky for some, but I’ve never been able to figure out the fascination with wheels that belong on a tractor.

Just saw a high wing ZR1. I literally thought it was some franken-mod vette and almost drove right past it. The rear high wing looks like a cheap bolt on part. The side vents behind the front wheels are a complete abomination. Whoever made that design choice should be canned. The front end looked better than I expected though.

They fit the C7 GS, Z06, and ZR1. It makes a lot of sense because not many people want to buy a high end performance car and then cripple it year round with a compromise tire. The idea is you run these Winter tire, like in the Winter, and run the MPSS the rest of the year when there is no snow potential and temps are above 50.

I'm currently running the Pirelli Sottozero on my C7Z but once those are worm out (and I can actually find a set) I'll be putting these Michelin's on. I was going to put the fronts I have for the vette on my M3 since the sizes are the same and then get the Michelin's but like I said you can't seem to get them any more this year. That's the problem with Winter tires, you have to buy them in the Fall as they only make so many for the season.

While I understand your logic with regards to "compromise" tires, I still think there are a fair amount of GS owners who would like an All season option. I live in AZ so I don't need snow tires. I don't track my GS either. I had Michelin A/S run flats on my 2014 C7 Base 3LT and I liked the softer, quieter ride they provide. I didn't notice much difference in handling either. I understand that Michelin has promised to make GS A/S run flats at some point. I hope they are available when I decide to get new tires. Happy New Year!

IMO Any Corvette is just a fish out of the water. With snow tires or not when they are out in snow or on ice covered roads.

Looks like the driver/owner is over extended on the payments and must use it because they cannot afford the proper wintertime vehicle. My 4 wheel drive easy takes the ZR1 on any ice or snow race.

How is owning a REALLY GREAT car and driving the wheels off of it and enjoying it to the fullest "over extended on the payments and must use it because they cannot afford the proper wintertime vehicle"

On the flip side I can't understand anyone who buys these cars and parks them for 6 months because its cold outside and it might get snow on the car...

Proper tires for the situation is the key to a great handling vehicle, that goes for trucks, cars, suv's and tractors... So if you do not have snow tires on "your truck" my car will run circles around you... I had my 14 out in 5 degree weather and she ran and drove perfect just like GM built the car to do...

So please don't put us down to make yourself feel better because you can't drive your car for 6 months...

Here is a nice shot

Here is mine and a 2009 ZR1 both with All Season tires that we drive on all year long :)

We just use so much salt on the roads here in Michigan - that's why mine is going to stay parked. The salt destroys the underside of every vehicle I have every owned.

cowboy casey 12-28-2017 11:40 AM

I will agree on that, that salt and beat juice can be corrosive, anything over a couple inches of snow and a truck is a better option :)
