Latest Spy Shots - Winter Testing

My first thoughts: Brake rotors are the same size front and rear, which indicates a rear weight bias? Brake rotors are not Z06-sized or extremely large, and are iron. This indicates this is a base model Rear tires are at most ~325, which again indicates a base model I think? How wide are the C7 Stingray rears? |

Great to see some updated mirror stalks that aren't so thick. Also interesting to see something of a spoiler this time. I am hoping for active aero! (I'm sure I'm not alone!)
I haven't seen a test car with carbon ceramic brakes yet, so I hope they just haven't put them on a mule yet -- or else maybe they'll be on the hi-po version that comes out a year later. Overall, the car seems to be very complete, with all the little dohickies like rain sensing mirror (maybe a PDR camera in there?), new seats, etc. Exciting stuff! |
Hello. New member here. Corvette fanatic, enthusiast, loyalist, etc.
I'm a little disappointed with the design language of Corvettes lately, and hopefully I don't get this reply, "If you don't like it don't buy it." First, I am incredibly excited that Corvette is going after a more exclusive and exotic crowd by placing the engine mid. However, what on earth is up with that rear end? Why is it sitting so high like a bunker? In the third picture those rear fenders are incredibly high almost resembling an El-Camino! Since the car is mid-engine meaning the drive wheels are behind the engine, there is no reason for the rear fenders and lid to be so high up. It gives the rear end a boxy-stubby look. Also, I really hope this car doesn't incorporate GM's hotch botch pieces. The ZO6 and ZR1 models are a mess. Looks as though they have a bunch after market pieces tacked on. Some are carbon fiber and some are just black plastic. Obviously, I would be a fool to chose a base Stingray over one of these, but I must say the Stingray does indeed look better. Its much simpler and cleaner. Instead of trying to cut corners, I really hope that GM actually develops different body panels for the higher performance variants of this new mid engine model. The front end of this mule does bare striking resemblance to a Ferrari 458 or 488gtb, which is indeed a good thing. By front I mean from the B-pillar forward and the greenhouse. It has a very slender and athletic look which is nice, as the ZO6 and ZR1 models both appear somewhat bloated. And my last complaint.....put the car on a diet. Vettes are getting a little obese. |

With you on the rear end! I hope they don't just paste on a Z06 rear end. It should be tailored specifically for this car.

Glad I'm not the only one. And I do agree with "Shaka" about the interior. I'm not hopping the interior build quality band wagon. I actually the quality of the interior is great, but i do wish it were maybe a little more driver focused. Lose the paddle shifters. A little race car inspired. After all, this mid engine Corvette shouldnt be so much a daily driver like the other models.

:D If those were taken up in the arctic, just how in the hell did the so called spy photographer know where to be. That's a damn big place up there and GM just didn't drive the car(s) up either. Those had to have been leaked on purpose. Just like the ones at Micky D's.

The cab is far to large. The C3 interior was a perfect size for a sports car. It looks like they are trying to appeal to a wide range of tastes in one package.
All cars have gotten bigger since the 70's. There is more reinforcement, airbags, and collision survivability as well. |

Spy photographers know GM tests all its new vehicles there in the winter, and thus “camp out” there looking for picture opportunities. |
Looking at some of these photos makes me think there is a LOT of camouflaging going on under the black cover.

In another thread, a member noticed that the steering wheel on that C8 mule (which had different wheels than these latest mule's pics) had a flat top (ala Ford GT, LaFerrari): https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...post1596315772 These latest pics show a rounded top steering wheel... perhaps another difference to differentiate options and/or performance levels. |
Lots of camo trickery going on with the rear half of the car. They obviously want to keep that area the most secretive so I wouldn’t make too many judgements either way. Minor points: mirrors look great and HUD lives.
