Other than Melrose, what LS swap headers have you guys used.
Looking to put an LS3 based engine in my 93 and i think its going to need more than the 1-3/4" primaries of the Melrose headers. is anyone used anything else? I'm not worried about clearing anything but the steering shaft. Car will have NO A/C, PS, etc

I thought you were gonna run a big turbo??

I run LS swap shortly headers that dump in similar location to the factory L98 engine. I'm also running a custom 3in dual exhaust from the header to the exhaust tip.
I bought them cheap off ebay, and with a set of LS engine mounts. Probably was around $160 in total. Ceramic coated. Here is two pictures, one with wires/header wrap and one without. |
What kind on power do you plan on making with the LS3 ? The Melrose should be fine. I have a set on my 86 swap and mine run decent 11.3s @ 119mph with mild port work and cam, and very streetable.

not sure what the power will be yet, but it will be solid roller most likely with a lot of compression. It's going to turn more RPM so I'm thinking i might need some 1-7/8" primaries and was just looking at options. I may build a set, I'm going to be building a lot of parts this thing anyway
LS3 engine would be a sweet runner stock. You going with aftermarket heads, to go with the solid roller? I'm in the process of building a new radiator/cold air scoop/intake for my car. The stock setup is pretty restrictive. |

Sounds like a sweet car, post pics on your build. Not to many of us LS engined C4 cars on this forum.

I'm going with the GM CNC LS3 and a ported LS3 intake for my build, not sure on what I'm exactly doing yet. I would like to do a stroker build on an aluminum block, but I have to see. My car is just a pile of pieces right now as well and been on jack stands now for several months.
Wow, that LS 525 is one heck of a motor. |

its a pile of parts at the moment. Haven't made a final decision on heads yet, there are now a lot of options. Down the road I may even run the NMCA LSX Factory Stock class, which uses the DR525 crate motor (LS3 based). Once I get started good on the build I will be posting a thread with pics
Here is a DR525 swap that some one is doing on LS1 Tech for the NMCA class Randy |

I find myself considering an LS swap for an early C4 from a leftover heavily built Superdeck 427 based upon LS2/LS7 variety. It was built for heavy boost in my TTC6, but went another route. The 427 will be FI in whatever it goes into. I used to speak with you years ago with my old screen name (AKS Racing). It has been a long time. Aaron |
Not bad. I’m going to do a few things differently, but it’s should be a great car for that class
