clearcoat on polished wheels?

I'm looking at some c5 thin spoke aluminum polished wheels that are pretty trashed but the price is great.

I already know how to re-polish the aluminum and get rid of the corrosion and stuff I believe, but I understand these things have clear coat on them. So my questions:

- How to remove the clear coat?
- How to re-clear?

I'm working on my C2, and have successfully removed the clear coat ( anodizing actually) with Easy-Off oven cleaner....it works!
Used the treatment to be able to "get at" dings and pitting in Aluminum grill surround trim.
Allowed me to buff the metal to a nice shine.
Haven't decided to spray with clear or just leave "natural" and occasionally polish?
Bill.

Nice! Thanks for the tip!
