Baddest 69 on the planet at BJ Scottsdale

This is the coolest restomod ever built out of all generations, in my opinion. I would love to phone bid it but I'm sure it's out of my reach as I think it will hit 185k.

Not my cup of tea. The huge rear wheels look a bit clownish IMO and my eyes rolled at "air bags".

Still, looks like fine craftsmanship. I kind of like the bubbles behind the seats on the rear deck.

I'm supposed to go the auction next weekend with a buddy, so maybe I'll get to take a look at it.

That one has been around for a while. It's very well done but more of a pro street than pro touring build. It will be interesting to see what it brings.

Dynra Rockets 01-14-2018 10:49 AM

Definitely not a restomod.

resdoggie 01-14-2018 10:55 AM

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Prostreeter1 01-14-2018 11:06 AM

WOW....I'm amazed you guys don't like that car. Who here in our age group (58) didn't play with Hot Wheels back in the day until the paint wore off?

All my hot rods have been Hot Wheels inspired.

calwldlife 01-14-2018 03:37 PM

naw, not my idea of big money

ntfday 01-14-2018 03:52 PM

I'll pass and I'm not even close to a purist but that looks like a clown car on steroids. It will interesting to see what it brings since I believe Scottsdale is a fairly conservative crowd.

SBR 01-14-2018 05:39 PM

I prefer your Avatar over the car.

In that case, I must be blind. As has been mentioned, the HUGE wheels look terrible.........

Then you guys wouldn't have liked my 67 that sold at BJ 2 years ago for 123,200. Had 20's on the rear of that car too and bagged. It was a true Hot Wheels type car.

F4Gary 01-14-2018 06:54 PM

Nope. Rear wheels make it look like a cartoon. Not a restomod.

Richard454 01-14-2018 06:55 PM

WOW-

I like it- a really nicely done custom - restomod- whatever you want to call it...

A LOT of craftsmanship- everything is finished out nicely. A real work of art looking at the all the details...

If you are one who can appreciate spending tons of time looking for a correct bolt and the right shade of green to the silver for the rally wheels- than you should have some respect for the time spent on making all the parts on this car that still looks like a C3.

I can't imagine the time spent welding and polishing all the SS piping under the hood- exhaust - intake- valve covers....

Really? - aren't we car guys with just different tastes?

Geeze- just swap out the rear tires if it's too much!!!

Smaller tires...

I definitely dig the 67 you sold. I would have had a hard time selling that beauty. I don't mind the big rims but do prefer Pro-Touring. I like the C3 above, not much not to like IMO but I like Alloway built ones and the Roadster shop stuff too. They are my favorite...

A few from Alloways 69,72 & 63

That is a pretty famous car right there. Some things that are not to my taste, but damn, that is nicely done. I really hope it brings good money.

Tonio 01-14-2018 08:29 PM

I'd probably like it if the sidepipes weren't scraping the pavement. That's just silly. What's it look like with the balloons inflated?

Wee 01-14-2018 08:46 PM

I'd take the 48 hour vette over this one....It's going to be sold at the same auction.

Brian

Duane4238 01-14-2018 09:33 PM

Definitely not my cup of tea. If I were to spend those big bucks, I'm sure I could find something like a Cobra or a Turbo Porsche. Those would put a smile on my face.

The quality of the build is exquisite..like it or not.

I like the factory side pipe look much better...
