C2 newbie pricing question

Hi everyone,

I'm a thirty something from over in the c4 forums. I currently own a 1992, which I have owned for some time. I love it, but my dream car has always been a C2 vert. I haven't really paid attention for some time to what pricing is, and a quick search doesn't help. Pricing is really al over the place.

I guess my question would be: What should I expect to pay if I can find what would be ideal for me, which would be a c2 vert, NOM or roller, solid but with perhaps bad paint, mostly complete but needing some lovin'?

about high 30’s to low 40’s. If you can find one like that. But don’t fool your self if you find one like that your sink anther 15-25k into making it nice

C2

Not sure what a vert is, but you should look for a driver quality 64 convertible. Prob in the 40’s, but you wont have to sink a ton into it.

Vert might be short for vertical. Or, sometimes I have heard of new VW beetles called verts when they had a folding top.

There is a 40k car in Texas on the Forum for sale section that should get you started

"vert" is short for convertible.

And for all these years I've been calling them "ibles." :D

My 65 convertible might be a possibility for you. PM me for more details, if interested.

I think the term "vert" started in 2005 with the new model C6. The word migrated back into the C5 and C4 forums but I believe it never came into favor in the older car forums. It is also prevalent in the C7 forum.

The pedantic nature of this board is amusing.

“Vert,” “roadster,” who gives AF?

Almost as entertaining as the running thread about which car shows on tv are the worst / most unrealistic.

:crazy2:

OP - my advice is buy the best example you can afford, as it will be cheaper in the long run.

Good luck and welcome to the C2 board!

Amusing is one word for it There is always someone here that will pick at everything. The term "vert" has been around for as long as I can remember as a slang or abbreviated word for convertible.

CorvetteClug 01-14-2018 07:25 PM

Haha, yes "vert" is short for convertible. I didn't know that wasn't in common usage; my apologies.

Not quite to the point where I could pony up 40k just for a starting point, wife and kids and business to run and all. At this point, the c4 isn't worth anything, so I will probably just run it. Perhaps its all a dream...

But, a resto-mod silver c2 convertible. There just is nothing sexier with 4 wheels.

65hihp 01-14-2018 07:32 PM

You got that right.
Someone help me with pedantic. Geriatric I know.
If this forum is going to turn into a Mensa contest, I'm out.
No one I know born before 1975 uses the word vert.
What does a Marine care about the Air Force?
$40,000 is a lot of money for a 54 year old sex object.
Matt, it was great to meet you!

What's with the avatar? Ever been to Atlanta?

God forbid you didn't refer to it as a "ragtop" or someone would have REALLY been up your ass. :leaving:

Pedantic = Petty. Being overly concerned with trivial details.

Why does a Marine care about the Air Force?
Because they give me rides places and drop bombs on people’s heads when they try to shoot me...

It was great to meet you too, Don - thanks for taking the time to chat!

65hihp 01-14-2018 07:42 PM

Brilliant Mensa that you are, you must be an officer....
Very happy you took the time to stop and say hello, and introduce your son and procrastination racing! Maybe we will meet again somewhere.
