A lot of things going on with my Z! I don’t understand.
Guys, I have been having some issues with my Z06. To start off it’s a 07 Heads, cam, full bolt ons C6Z. 42k Miles. Been running perfect until last week. Got a P0171 (system too lean) code. Well install new silicone couplings on the CAI to TB, checked the MAF and it looked clean. Air filter is somewhat dirty and has a few bugs in it. Anyways installed new couplings and tightened down all the intake manifold bolts (MSD Atomic Fusion intake). Well after firing it up after tightening the bolts and clearing the code a new code popped up.. P0449(Evap emission system vent/solenoid circuit). Stayed on after I cleared it twice.
so went for a drive.. car keeps stumbling around 2k rpm at cruising (part throttle) but when you accelerate more until WOT she screams like normal(575/506 to the wheel). Pulls like a freight train at WOT even with the code on. So I pull into the gas station. Turn it off.. then turn ignition to “ON”.. get the code again P0171 and then all kind of crap!! P0171 ”Service charging system” ”service anti lock brakes” ”service active handling” WHAT THE HELL!!!?? I need some help guys. Closest tuner is 1 hour from me. So not sure I could get it to him as the car seemed to not want to move when I backed into the garage. |
Check the obvious first. Plug wires, test the battery, and test the alternator.
|
Plug wires are fairly new and they have boots, not burned or cut. Battery is about 2 months old. Had a good charge on it when I first fired it up 14.3V

go back to the start, what did you do when you changed parts, did you disconnect anything else.and maybe you didn't put it back on,if this all started after you worked on it,somethings off or broken

That’s the thing. It just randomly happened. Drove it one day fine, the next time I drove it it just started stumbling and throwing the P0171 code. Nothing changed. I changed couplings and tightened the manifold bolts BECAUSE of this problem. |
The only that has changed.. I had the tuner disable the rear O2 sensors and I removed them. That was two weeks ago though.
Awhile back I burned up the wiring for the O2 sensors and had to replace them. Could the cats be messed up in some way? |
Find and check the wiring to the vent solenoid.

Where exactly is this located? |
Wish I could help. Evap Solenoid is in front of the pass cylinder head.
I think you might need an expert to take a look at it. Odd that you are getting codes at random. Have you checked with your tuner? |

Not yet it just started all this yesterday and he doesn’t work weekends. I can only call him though I’m pretty sure it wouldn’t drive to him in this condition. He is a little over an hour away. |
I'd check all of the MSD bolts.
|
I'd at least load test the battery regardless of age. Bad batteries/bad cells can cause all sorts of electrical gremlins on these cars.
|
Check connections to battery and see if u can swap for another one to test. Flakey batteries cause all kinds of weird issues in todays cars.

Did that. Re-torqued then all to spec. |
Sucks Bro... Be patient, you'll figure it out,

Man I’m trying to be.. all these little problems are frustrating. |
Try a pressure test. Pull lines from the engine to see where air is going. Maybe a solenoid got stuck open and air is leaking into or from the evap system, or going somewhere else.
I lol'd when you said "all kinds of crap!" and theres this list of totally unrelated stuff. Makes me think low voltage on that note. |

Can the Evap Solenoid(P0449) code be causing the System Too Lean(P0171) code by chance? |

Can the Evap Solenoid(P0449) code be causing the System Too Lean(P0171) code by chance? Wacky stuff can be caused by not having proper voltage, esp when cranking.... pulls voltage low and modules dont respond well to that dip in volts. |

I agree w the orhers on battery voltage, connections, grounds oulled at any point, not tightened?
