Possible problems with new C's
 

Thank you for your thoughts on the possible odometer roll backs on low millage C7's. Now I have another question. I found a low millage 2014 C7. The last time I bought a new model year production car it was a nightmare.
It was a 2013 Honda Accord and it had more electronic bugs than the city dump. With the 2014 being the first year for the C7 is anyone aware of any problems I should look out for.
The car is a 2014 C7 with the 2LT trim package, manual 7 speed and the Z51 package. Thanks for any help you can offer. .

A 2014 isn’t a C6, it’s a C7.

My 2014 has been absolutely trouble free.

38k miles on my 2014 Z51 and it's been a great car. I custom ordered it and took delivery at 3 miles. Doesn't seem like the C7 suffered from many first model year issues like so many other models have.

Ditto on my 2014 Z51 2LT M7 w/ MSRC . . . flawless. First year cars in this case seem to have been as good, if not better, than later model years.

Over the last decade, I've purchased several 1st MY cars of several different makes. They've all been flawless. I believe the notion that 1st year cars should be avoided is now an antiquated, urban myth. Given the advantages of modern CAD design, as well as increased QC scrutiny on early production models, manufacturers have essentially eliminated those types of issues, but people still hold on to decades-old notions.

With so much market competition today, the stakes are very high, necessitating a smooth introduction of any new model. I actually believe complacency which can set in after several years of manufacturing is a bigger danger.

I will have to add that the 2014 C7 seems to be a great car, and prone to fewer problems than subsequent years.

I had 80,000 trouble-free miles, and then an issue that was covered under warranty.

I'm on my second 2014 C7, and have had zero issues with either... solid cars!

Bought a used 2014 2LT last Feb with only 3240 miles. I have put 3000 miles on it since with no issues whatsoever.

2014 daily driver. Flawless. In fact, the 2014 model year has had fewer issues than the later years, primarily because the A8 transmission did not come out until 2015.

I bought a 2014 new in April of 15, zero issues with it up until Hurricane Harvey.

2014 sure sounds like short list choice, I may be wrong but have seen complaint charts and 2014 was reported with high numbers?

but I do take charts with a grain of salt, the chart I saw said gas fume complaints? seems many on forum are good with the 2014

First model year issues have become mostly a concern of the past when automakers didn't have digital design tools that helped them get proper fit of parts until they ran a few cars through a production line. The C7 is no different. I am no fan of Hondas but I am surprised you had any first model year issues with the car. First model year issues showed up when parts didn't always fit together too well. With thousands of parts in a car it used to be hard to make sure everything fit together properly when they did all of the work on drafting boards. Now computer aided design lets them check to see how well things fit together before they say go.

What are you talking about? In five years I never read a post or article about C7 odometer roll backs.

This makes me question anything you have to say as truthful.

Odometer rollbacks ended w/ mechanical odometers several decades ago. I think he was mistakenly hanging out with dinosaurs in an early gen forum.

Not one problem with the 2014 C7. What I read here on the forum the 2015 and up have more 2 & 3rd year issues (A8) then the A6 2014.

My '14 has performed admirably. Push button, start, drive, stop, push button! Easy...

Don, As a rule, 2014 C7s have no more problems than any C7.
1. Go to a GM dealer and purchase the VIS report that discloses all the repairs and maintenance performed under warranty. I understand a 2014 is out of B2B warranty, but the report will disclose if the C7 was problematic or a typical, good performing C7 for the first three years of ownership. Then you'll KNOW the answer about that car.
2. With a 2014 Z51, determine if the car has Magnetic Ride Control. If it does, that's great, if not, be sure to drive the car over a rough road. The Z51 without MSRC has a stiff ride. Not everyone likes that. With MSRC, no worry because you can set it to touring where it softens the ride.
3. With a 2014 Z51, keep in mind for this year NPP (dual mode exhaust) did NOT come standard with that car. For year 2014, NPP was optional in the Z51. While most have it, you want to check to be sure the car has it because it can not be added afterward.
