Ron Fellows Performance Driving School

Just graduated from the Ron Fellows Performance Driving School at the Spring Mountain Motor Raceway. What an incredible experience. The instructors were the best. They were so knowledgeable and patient, and the best young drivers you'll ever meet. If you own a C7 Stingray, Grand Sport or Z06, and even if you don't plan on tracking your car, you've got to take advantage of this instruction. This was a 2-day class. There were 21 of us students from all over the United States and Canada. What a great group of people. When you purchase your new Corvette, you also get a discounted rate on the class. It is well worth the money. You will not be disappointed.

Best. Video. Game. Ever. (Not original, but to the point). +1 on knowledgeable and patient instructors.

I'm doing the level 2 school in May. Should be fun.

$1600 for 2 full track days on someone else's car is a bargain.

How did you score the discount? List price for the level 2 school is $3495.

They applied my level 1 discount to level 2. They let me speak to their head honcho who green lighted me for level 2. It was actually pretty simple.
The strange thing is I have to drive a stingray despite owning a GS. You'd think GM would pay for GS owners to drive GS and Z06 owners to drive Z06. GS was something like $2000 more than a Stingray :ack:

Level 1 is a great deal for people who haven't ever done a track day, but for people who would be bored with lead follow, get good use out of the rare opportunity to run this track and bump up to level 2:yesnod:

Going April 25-26. Can't wait.

I'll be in a GS and although I've done some track stuff before, it was in my 1971 Datsun 240Z... with a whopping 127 rear wheel HP on the dyno.

Most likely the cost difference is because the "other" programs besides corvette owners school have a tiered pricing, well the COS does, GM just subsidizes beyond 1k. Because you got a unique discount maybe they weren't willing to do that.

I forget the exact price, but the Level two school is around $3500 and they add like 500 or 1k to the price for a GS, and even more for a Z06 car.

Spring Mt will be FREE for buyers of a new ZR1

One of the presentations in the Corvette Corral Hospitality Tent at the Rolex 24 over the weekend was by Spring Mountain.

They said that buyers of a new C7 ZR1 will attend the Ron Fellows Corvette Driver School for FREE!!

They are thinking that ZR1 owners will need a different course of instruction, and they're currently developing it.

I agree 100%, just went this past week on Wed and Thurs and loved every minute of it. What a great staff they have there.

BTW: Let me put into perspective what a track day at COTA cost- without figuring out how to get you car there

Tires: $750 (half a set, mount balance, etc- I ran r888R, which are about $1500 installed. At cup tire or PSS prices, it's closer to $1000/day)
brake pads: $200 (1/3 a set of hawks)
Brake fluid: $40
Track fees: $650 with instructor for the day
Gas: $60
Oil Change: $80
----------------------
$1780
x2 days
----------------
$3560.00

Add hotel and meals and you're close to $4k for the same experience.

That doesn't include wear and tear on your car (I got a few paint chips, definitely beat on the car, caliper paint "burns" etc), other fluid swaps (ie: differential) or your time (about 3 hours of prep time for pads, fluid, oil change, and whatever time to get new tires, etc).

Don't forget the brothels in Pharump!

I'm going end of June. Can't wait!

TKgs2010 01-30-2018 01:06 AM

Haven't made my res yet, but I'm thinking June or July. Did Level 1 school in July, I think I was the only one who didn't mind the 100 degree temps, and they were running a deal on the condos. Anybody who is on the edge, DO IT, greatest deal on the planet for car guys.:yesnod:

JDMilw 01-30-2018 08:37 AM

I'm going April 18-19. :)

LIStingray 01-30-2018 09:28 AM

I am all set for March 28 & 29 in a GS MN7.
Was there in march 2015 and it was a great experience - expecting this time to be at least as good.
The $1,000 program cost is a really good incentive to buy another Corvette.

Mike Jesse 01-30-2018 10:44 AM

April 18-19 for me too!
Imagine that!

ONENATION 01-30-2018 01:18 PM

I hope to get there this summer!
