Z06 Merger into C5 General
 

I just got word that the IB tech team has merged the C5 Z06 section into C5 General. It is something we had talked to them about several months ago, but has just been addressed this afternoon.

Why was it done? We understand that some of you would like to have a separate section for each model Corvette in each generation. The software is capable of having an infinite number of sections. We could do one for each model, each year and each color Corvette.

There are good reasons for not doing so, however. Imagine how difficult it would be to find what you were looking for and how long the directory for the site would be. The thing we are most sensitive to relates to traffic in a section because observation shows that a section which doesn’t get much traffic becomes static and people stop checking static sections because they assume there will be nothing new there to see.

The C5 Z06 section had become an example of a lightly used section, making it vulnerable to being overwhelmed by vendor sales threads. By combining the Z06 section with the more active C5 General section, the expectation is that the section will be improved by increased activity.

Presumably, the merger of the two sections creates more active threads in a section that is less likely to be overwhelmed by sale threads and less likely to appear as if it has become static.

You’ll note that the software now gives you an option of adding a Z06 prefix for threads that apply specifically to Z06s. That should make it easier to spot the Z06 threads if that’s what you come to the section looking for. The toggle at the top of the page also will allow you to view just Z06 threads if you like.
