Berlin Motors

As anyone ever heard of Berlin Motors in Miami Florida? I received an email regarding a 88 convertible I have for sale from a guy in Germany that states he has bought cars before through them. Are they legit? Anyone ever deal with them?

Hi ctrain22

Personally, I would never even consider going that route. First of all, there are many buyers right here in the U.S., if you are patient, you WILL sell your car. Secondly, there are sooo many scams out there involving off shore buyers that we've all lost count. Could it be legit? There's a REMOTE possibility...but I highly doubt it.

Why doubt the legitimacy? Well, if I were in your shoes I would have to ask myself the obvious question: WHY would a buyer from Germany want to spend the kind of money it would take to transport my 1988 convertible with over 130,000 miles from California to Florida and then halfway around the world to Germany...ON TOP of the price he would pay for the car??

It just doesn't make sense nor sound logical to me. I would pass.

Whichever way you decide to go, good luck.

Regards,

Dave

If you follow this link you will find that it is a real company

http://www.berlinmotors.de/

and Dave, the reason for Germans to buy in the US and ship to Germany are different :
- US-Cars are still cheaper then in Europe, even with shipping and tax
- you find cars that are not available in Europe

"there are sooo many scams out there involving off shore buyers"

Thats why we daily can read here in this forum about this case :hide:

Im looking for a 90 Convertible and hope to get one sometime, even I have to send money to the US wit nothing then I have to trust the seller and hope a complete car will arrive

I'm not sure the existence of a website makes a company legitimate. Not saying they aren't but not convinced by a website.

If they have a physical presence in FL, then treat it like any long distance sale. Get funds through a non-revocable method before turning over possession of the car.

Once they buy from you they can sell to the overseas buyer.
