Who's came from a C6 and went to a C7

As the title states who has owned a c6 and c7? What do you like better about each car? Which car were you more comfortable in? What were you pro's and con's of each model? I'm looking at purchasing either model but wanted input from people that have owned both. Whichever car i purchase it will be a weekend toy. I also would love to have a A&A/ECS/Procharger on it, not sure if that changes anything. Any good information will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I had a 2008 C6 coupe for several years, that I traded for a 2014 C7 vert four years ago. I miss NOTHING about the C6. The C7 is better in every way possible.

I had a 2006 C6 3LT Coupe that was a fantastic car. At the time, it was the best-handling, quickest car I'd ever driven. To me, the seats were comfortable enough for long-distance driving and it was always a pleasure to go places.

I've now had my C7 for a year and a half, and it's simply several steps ahead of the C6 in all aspects. The handling with the electronic differential and other related components, including those Michelin Pilot Sport tires, is simply outstanding and must be experienced to be believed. The quality of the ride is much improved as well with nary a squeak or rattle, unlike that of the previous generation. The ride is more solid because of the increased stiffness of the suspension and frame components. There have been complaints regarding the A8, but my A8 has been flawless. One of the things I didn't like about my C6 was the lag when downshifting with the paddles. That has been much improved in the C7.

Looks are subjective, so I'll just offer my opinion that the C7 is the best looking Corvette to date. Its aggressive look, the beautifully designed headlights, the sharp angles in the bodywork, all work together in making the car look like a real modern sports car. The interior has been universally proclaimed as a major improvement over the previous car. The seats have so many adjustment options, that most anybody under 6'4" should fit very comfortably. Those who are taller might not be so lucky, unfortunately.

The instrument panel and the infotainment system have enough features to keep most guys happy with its mix of multiple instrument setting options, entertainment and navigation options and other features that will keep you busy deciding which ones to use. Android Auto allows you to use several phone apps through that infotainment system as well.

The C6 is a great car and I enjoyed it immensely. But the C7, in my most humble opinion, is on another level entirely. I don't think you'll ever regret owning it.

Hmm, my C7s (2014 Z51 and now Grand Sport) are much better, giving up nothing. Why mess around installing a supercharger or turbocharger on an engine that does not have the lower compression and HD parts to deal with it!?!

Just buy a Z06! If you can’t afford new, buy used. You are in a perfect position, you don't have a car! Been a gearhead for 60 years! Don’t just put a power adder on and think all is fine. Sure can be done, but do it right and get an LT4 designed to handle the extra hp! :smash:

You'll also have rear tires that can handle more (NOT ALL) the extra power! Heck my C6 Z51 had the same width ties as my 2014 Z51! Thought those were anemic for a car with more power and much more low end torque due to variable cam timing! So I bought the GS! Don't just go out and get an aftermarket supercharger before you drive even the base C7! May be more low end torque than you are used to driving! :yesnod:

2007 C6 roadster to 2018 C7 Grand Sport Coupe

You just can't compare from what I feel and mine are different models. I've only gotten to drive my new one for a month before I had to store it for winter but what a car! The technology change from c6 to c7 is amazing. I doubt this helps but just my 2 cents and I owe you change.....

I went from a 2013 GS to a 2017 GS. There are no cons to either car but the C7 is light years ahead of the C6. More comfortable, faster, better handling, same gas mileage. I prefer the A6 in the 13 to the A8 in the 17 but that's just me. The C7 electronics are far better. Mag ride in a C6 does very little, in a C7 each position makes a huge difference. I installed an aftermarket Kenwood in the C6. Not needed in the C7, it has all the doo dads I like, rear camera, front camera, great voice control and phone capability.

2008 coupe to 2017

Only advantage the C6 had was that were more interior room, both as the driver and as room under the hatch for luggage.

On every other metric the C7 is much better.

Rebel Yell 02-08-2018 12:44 PM

I went from an'07 C6 to a '16 C7, and didn't look back. The only thing that may give you a problem is the seats in the C7 as they are as different as night and day from the C6. But, that's easy enough for one to check. I find the seats very comfortable, and I don't get as tired in them on a long road trip as I did in the C6.

I must wait to sell my 2006 beforeI can afford the new 2019!! Someone buy it soon!

Dado5 02-08-2018 12:50 PM

went from 2012 GS to 2018 GS

Didn’t think there would be much difference but there is, a huge difference…

Greg00Coupe 02-08-2018 12:56 PM

2013 GS to 14 stingray to 16 Z06. The differences folks talk about from the C6 to the C7 are true but the C7 Z51 to the C7 Z is another story altogether. I am sure the Z to the new beast is the same leap forward, just more raw power.

Plus lot of whistles and bells in the newer cars.

i had a 07 C6, then a 14 C7, have a 19 on order. I loved my C6 but for me the C7 is superior in every imaginable way.

Traded in my 2010 3LT coupe on a 2016 Z06/Z07 coupe. Awesome car. Stunning performance. No regrets at all

This is a question I asked myself as I went from a C5 to a C6 and then to a C7, and I can unequivocally say with the exception of interior space, every single thing about the generational changes has been phenomenal. Each time, I though to myself no way can the next generation truly be better and I was just plain wrong. The C7 feels more integrated in every way for the driver. I feel as though I am wearing the car. The throttle response in better, the braking is confidence inspiring, the road manners exhilarating!

Do I miss my previous Corvettes, you bet, but that is a sentimental attachment that has nothing to with how much better the actual car is.

HTH.

I went from 2004 Z06 to 2014 Stingray, and recommend that you just buy the newest model you can afford...My 2014 Stingray actually listed for about the same price as a Z06 back in 2004 ($52,000), but has more horsepower and all the features are updated. Can't say I miss anything on the C5.

Loved my 3 C6's. Still have my 2009 Z06. But the C7 rides much better and is a sight to behold. The C7 is worth every penny.

Takoyaki 02-08-2018 01:48 PM

I went from 2005 C6 Z51 with some Z06 parts to 2015 C7 Z06. Only thing I am missing by getting C7Z is some cash in my pocket. Money give me some sense of security but it doesn't make me smile.

Was the grey hair an option with the C7?

Mine doesn't match my WGG car.

I have not owned a C6, but I drove several of them before deciding on the C7. I would say, between the C5, C6, and C7, all are excellent cars.

I was never really crazy about the look of the C6. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not ugly, but there isn’t anything about it that really grabbed me. The wide body really helped out its looks, and I considered buying a C6 Z06. I was turned off by the valvetrain problems inherent to the LS7.

I ended up going with a C7 because the base LT1 engine makes as much torque and almost as much horsepower as the LS7 in the C6 Z06, but it comes with a removable roof. (Which I love.). I have also read about very few problems with the C7 with the exception of the A8 transmission. Not to mention, the C7 is a beautiful car to look at, even in its base format without stepping up to the wide-body.

Let me also make the statement that if a C7 was not in the cards price-wise, I would have bought a C5 Z06.

Flame Red 02-08-2018 02:05 PM

I went from a C6 vert to a C7 Z51 coupe.

The only things I miss about the C6 are:
  • The LS3. I don't need no stinkin' AFM!
  • I also miss the bullet proof A6 as my A8 was replaced with 100 miles on the clock.
  • I miss the ability to put in an aftermarket head unit like I did every year or so on the C6. No ability to upgrade the '15 HMI without loosing certain settings on the Z51.

Other than that C7 is no comparison. I like the cockpit feeling of the C7, kind of remind me of the C4 feeling.
