Is Orange the new Black? Delivery post 2/11/18 Pic heavy~Mike Furman at Criswell*****

~The first truckload of Sebring Orange Tint coat has certainly created a stir in the Corvette world. I sent out a mass email to my Corvette customers and those that live in close proximity to Criswell came for a first hand look. Yesterday(Saturday) I wrote 8 Factory orders and delivered 4 others...of the 8 Corvette orders 5 are Sebring Orange. I also spoke with 3-4 customers on the phone that will be ordering and 2 of those will be ordered in Sebring Orange as well. Now clearly it's a brand new color and enthusiasts have been patiently waiting for a new Orange to choose from so I am sure it will still be a 5+/-%. Which means 5% or less of the total Corvette production will be painted Sebring Orange. In comparison Black,
Torch Red and White are all in the 16-18% range of total production. Speaking of new colors...expect Watkins Glen Gray to be replaced by a new Gray in May....and a new Blue sometime in the Fall to be released.
*2019 Corvette production began last week...I sell and deliver Nationwide...next week I have 5 new Corvettes being drop shipped to California, Utah, Florida, Oregon and Ohio along with a few Museum deliveries being scheduled. Call my desk direct line 301-212-4420 or email mfurman@criswellauto.com and I will show you how seamless I can make the whole process.

~2019 ZR1's spotted in the Michigan snow...GM execs testing in real world situation. Retail production ZR1's begin in March and most likely be released in April. This will be a slow roll out much like watching Molasses pour.

*Spotlight on one delivery...(The first two Sebring Orange Corvette deliveries I had were both Convt's and both in 15 degree weather...go figure.)

~Clay (Foosh) and his wife Lee Anne of Lothian, MD came by Thursday and for them...Orange is the new Black. Clay and I have known each other in the Corvette Forums of the World for at least a dozen years. Couple months ago Clay placed his factory order for a 2018 Z51 Convt in Sebring Orange and I gave him a sight unseen value on his 2014 Corvette Convt. Confirmed by GM...Only two Sebring Orange Z51 convt’s were produced for the 2018 model year and this is the only 7 Spd manual!Clay factory ordered a Z51 Convt with 7 Spd manual trans, magnetic ride control, Black wheels and 2LT Pkg!

In Clay's own words from his forum post..."With all the new car delivery excitement, I am remiss in stating what is I'm sure obvious to many here, but maybe not to many others. Ordering, buying, and taking delivery of a car from Mike Furman is a fantastic experience.

Not only does he know the product to an extraordinary degree, he makes it fun. I've purchased probably 60 vehicles over the years, and this was the most fun ever. My wife even had a blast, although I think she now has a crush on Mr. Furman. I knew something was up when she had taken one of the Furman posters that was in the trunk, and put it up on the garage refrigerator." Clay "Foosh"

Favorite photo would be the C1............... the start of the Corvette, that is the common bond to all here.

The 2019 MY is the 4th year that GM has offered Admiral Blue on the Corvette. That is a long time for any single blue flavor.

Congratulations to Foosh on his new Vette.

Since I am a third generation Sooner grad, and our two main rivals' colors are orange, I could not buy a Sebring Orange vette. But it does look great on the Vettes.

Konner C4

Agreed, had to go with the Malcolm Konner Special Edition C4. With Mike’s persistence and perseverance, Konner could soon be inducted into the NCM Hall of Fame.

A small detail, but the black C7 vert, next to the 2018 Foosh Sebring Orange vert on the launch pad at Criswell, has a gray top. That has to be a rare color combination as well.

Black top

Yup, took a second look and it is now obviously a black top.

I was focused on the photo you took from the top of the launch pad in front of your office looking down on both of the foosh C7’s. The sun was hitting the black vert at such an angle that it made it appear gray.

Interesting pic of the tread design on the Michelin tire, as well as the all weather testing of the 2019 ZR1’s in the snow.

No apparent “melting” of those Corvettes going on in harsh weather conditions!

Much easier when it's captured test fleet from GM and you're not making payments.

Thanks Mike. Just when I begin to think I have seen almost everything you come up with something new. I've never seen or heard of a C1/2 hybrid. Was this developmental testing or did Zora craft it as a race car? Truly unique (to me anyway) and sort of cool looking.

Very nice looking car and good luck with your new 2018 Sebring Orange Corvette.

Lots of cool pics. This is my favorite. Such a genuinely happy young woman. How can one not smile with her!

All of those are very cool flashback photos...........but one that caught my eye was the Chevy dealership with three 1977 Chevettes parked indoors. NOT the kind of 'Vette that most people would want. Haha!!

My mother had a (then new) 1980 Chevette 4dr and I had a (quite used) 1978 Chevette 2dr a few years later. Both of them had no power steering, no A/C, crank windows, AM monaural radio, 4spd manual transmissions and 13-inch wheels.

The CHEvette was the polar opposite of the CORvette, I suppose. Haha!!

Oh my...I love the orange/black color scheme! I've really been in love with that combo since the 997 GT3 was released. Thanks for posting, and congrats to both Mike and all the new owners!

I will have to see one in person before rendering judgment..........but I bet the Sebring Orange will really "pop" on a sunny day.

So when does the DSC go in?

Foosh 02-12-2018 07:27 PM

Good question. I've decided to evaluate the new GM upgraded MSRC calibrations for 1-2K miles to satisfy my curiosity. It's already clear to me that they are less harsh than the OEM FE4 package in my '14. However, I'm almost certain I'll put the DSC back in by late spring, along w/ getting the car aligned at DSC/TPC Racing.

Great pictures Mike. I love the Sebring Orange. I liked the picture of the unrestored 1969 Corvette roadster in white and primer. I had a 69 roadster that was really nice when I was only 21 years old. Thanks for sharing.

Cannot see why they would be cutting WGG! Makes no sense period.
Featured Color on the ZR1 Top seller and best Gray ever!
Actually best color they make right now! IMO!

But then they will Keep ceramic or some other lessor color!
Oh well I have 1 Z06 in WGG and it is yet to catch 1 single chip!

slickstick 02-15-2018 10:40 PM

The Sebring Orange doesn't appear to shine in these pics like the ZR1 at the car show unveil... How does it look in person? I wonder if it sparkles and changes colors like this or only in the auto show lighting, I haven't seen one yet in person:

Sure it does. Here is mine on delivery day, and a couple of days later at home. It does change colors in all different types of light. The first picture is in early morning direct sunlight. The second is in partial sun/overcast at mid-day. The third is in the garage at dusk under fluorescent lights.

Looks good better get some side skirts on it and some GM splash guards of even better the ACS front splash guard. Other wise you get chips on the sides.

Thanks, I am crazy about Sebring Orange. I ordered it sight-unseen, and it has totally surpassed my expectations.

You can't see them well, but the ACS splash guards are already on it in the at home photos above, w/ GM splash guards in the rear. I pre-ordered them, and I intended to install them at the dealer upon delivery, but it was too fricken cold that day. They went on as soon as I drove it home from the dealer. XPEL Ultimate will go on within a week or so if my installer can get all the Lambos out of his shop.

Skirts will never go on. I do not like them. Narrow-bodies are not nearly as vulnerable to rocker panel chips, and with splash guards and XPEL, I had none on my black 2014, which really shows them.

Really dying to see this color in person. Can some one please tell me what if any color available right now it resembles. Just saw a Dodge challenger in orange and it was too orange. Is it close to that one?
