My build for 2018
I'm getting close to start putting things back together. In November, I pulled my factory shortblock and sold it and worked with HPR to build something that would handle more abuse. I've also had an ongoing battle with finding the right clutch, so I sold my RXT at the same time. The goal is to build an ~850 rwhp street car on E85 and meth with the possibility of swapping the head unit down the road to shoot for 1k+. Engine
Induction
Exhaust
Fuel system (will be upgraded after engine break in)
Drivetrain
My shortblock should arrive this week and I'll start putting things back together. I expect it take a few weekends before I'm ready to stuff the engine back in. |
Your trickflow heads are out of the box, correct?

That thing should make some steam. Do you plan to spin the blower any harder?

I noticed that. I’m spinning mine slightly harder than you with a stock size balancer and 3.47 blower pulley. Should make for a fun ride, especially with the higher compression and e85.

I can share some pictures provided by HPR.

Very nice! That thing is going to make some serious power.
Just a couple of things that I would change if it were my build, though: 1. I would go with a bigger cam - something like 235/245 and a 118-120 LSA. That would still be a relatively mild cam for a 427 cid. 2. I would do an ECS or A&A external fuel system rather than a BAP. That’s just too nice of a build to not spend the money on a fuel system, in my humble opinion. You can always add that later though. For a motor that size on boost, it would also be worth looking at the new ARH stepped-primary race headers with 3.5” collectors too, although they are expensive. |

As it says, it's only there to break in the engine. It will barely make any boost during that timeframe. A Fore system will replace it with ID1300X injectors. |

The cam was custom spec'd by Cam Motion for my needs. I'm very picky about the drivability nuances of cams. If it leaves 20 rwhp on the table, I'm fine with that. I can just add more boost or spray. I'm not looking to set any dyno or land speed records. :D

Cool build! I've had some clutch woes myself. Not a fan of this Ram twin disc. It works, but it's stiff. |

There we go! My thoughts exactly.

Shortblock arrived. I'm going to leave it in the bag until the heads are ready, which should be sometime this weekend if my shims arrive today.

Can't wait to see the results!

Tech, I am a long-time friend of Erik Koenig at HPR. Now I live up here near the Loo. I would love to see your car in action once it's up and running. Should be very impressive!
|
For sure  Lookin forward to some better weather. Today was a tease. |
Shims showed up today. I have a number of springs in between a 0.15" and 0.30" shim. Should I go for the lower or the higher installed height in those scenarios?
I'm using dual springs made by PAC for TFS with part number TFS-16306-16 150 lb/in @ 1.800" 420 lb/in @ 1.200" 1.100" coil bind |
With that heavier 118 gram intake valve I’d shim the springs to be .040-.060” from coil bind so you can get some more seat pressure. Same thing for the exhaust.
