Valley Auto

Maybe they should have had me do a pre purchase inspection.

I am sure they knew what they bought. They took what they wanted (original bolt on wheels) now it’s cleaned up ready for a buyer who has no clue.

Took the original bolt on wheels. Then added $7500 to the price. Yet they seem unhappy :toetap:

Haven't you watched any of those car tv shows? You got to buy and flip and raise the price to keep the lights on :D. Maybe in a few months they will drag this car to Spring Carisle

I know they have a reputation, but it looks in this instance they are pretty straight forward about that it will need a new frame and other issues.

i would not feel safe driving it daily or on weekends with out addressing the FRAME ISSUES!
Nothing deceitful about swapping wheels and raising the price.

No but it’s sad that the car had those wheels for 50 years and as soon as a dealer/flipper gets ahold of the car it’s the first thing to disapear. I don’t fault them for raising the price though.

I am about to replace weatherstrip on My doors - I like the nice neat job the previous owned did ----- WOW

"mostly no hit".

Is that like being "a little bit pregnant"?
:ack:

They complain heavily about the seller that they bought the car from. Yet feel that the car is worth $7500 more even without the wheels. How much should they expect to make on the car $15K? Well if the wheels are originals and in decent shape the net profit would exceed that. So not sure why they are complaining about the previous seller.

VA saw an opportunity and seized it. Good for them. I bet if someone now wants to take on a project and buy that car, they will find VA quite amenable to a deal. VA might come away from the whole experience with a set of real BO KH wheels for a pittance. That is how capitalism is supposed to work.

I have no issue with the capitalism. My issue is with them bitching about the previous seller. Maybe they should have looked at it before the purchase. Then they may have been able to buy those wheels even cheaper.

ps
tell me about your new avatar

65hihp 02-16-2018 05:23 PM

I know, I have to think the rant against the ebay seller is a marketing ploy. VA knows what they are doing, they've been at it long enough.
My avatar? I switched back to the 65 that I have run for years. I flipped over to the 64 coupe a month ago just for fun. Just trying to mix it up to keep you regulars on your toes. Good to see it's working.

hey Pancho, where's your avatar, anyway?
Come on, show us something....

Bluestripe67 02-16-2018 05:41 PM

The frame is one of the worst I have ever seen. The one shot appears to show the side rail split/exploded/expanded due to the build up of something. Can you imagine how the birdcage must be. Maybe this car went under water in the Texas floods...think about the rust patterns on things. :ack: Dennis

That is how the factory applied the w/s. Only the glue was clear when new. It yellowed or darken with age

Been to Valley Auto in Bedford, PA.....Not a very impressive place. Looked at about 6 Corvettes in various stages of disrepair.......

dplotkin 02-16-2018 08:11 PM

Is that dude pedaling a (Katrina from the looks of it) flood car as some kind of barn find original? What hutzpah.

Dan

Crunch527 02-16-2018 08:56 PM

That is a flood car.

I'll take it for $15K...

Railroadman 02-16-2018 09:15 PM

Doubt it was from one of the recent floods, that metal has been corroding for a long time.

Tonio 02-16-2018 09:20 PM

Their words;

"The body is nice on this car...."

"the paint looks good from 5ft-10ft back"

Who wrote the ad for them, Ray Charles?

don- I agree.

I also say it smacks of being disingenuous that VA would act like an outraged party for buying a car with a rusty frame. Their reputation is well known and they are- generously speaking- "big boys." They know the game well.

If anyone at Valley is truly surprised by a purchase I'd be shocked.
