Shoulda bought a vert?
 

Don't get me wrong - I love my C7 coupe, but on sunny days like today (71 degrees and perfect in mid-February in CA) taking the top off the car makes it a different creature all together. I love it so much more. Which leads me to wonder if I should have bought a convertible.

I have never owned a convertible, but if I get another Corvette, I'm thinking it should have a soft top. Anyone else feel the same?

I waffle because I love the waterfall between the seats on a vert - but I love the look of the rear of the coupe - and I like the extra security of the coupe. With the top off I think we get the best of both worlds - and more luggage space........but I love both.

I had a coupe and went to a Convertible. I can tell you the coupe with the top off does not come close to the convertible. The convertible is quieter, less wind turbulence, and 1 button operation. As for storage it meets my needs.
I just purchased another convertible and when I told my Wife I wanted to get a Z06 her only comment was get the convertible.

I think my next one may be a vert, but I will say this. I have a buddy with a 370z vert and he said it gets stupid hot in there in the summer. (in Texas). Not sure if the top on a vette is any thicker, but it's something I have to think about.

The cabin is smaller, so cooling (with the top up) in summer, and heating in winter is more efficient. It is a smaller, more insulated space. That insulation also proves true for noise as well.

Since it's as personal a decision as what colors/performance package/options you choose, you'll get a wide range of thoughts, likely divided along the percentage of ragtop/coupe owners..
IMO the lines of the convertible with the top down are spectacular, but the majority of the year the top will be UP, which IMO has lines that are far inferior to the lines of the coupe. :hide:
Practically speaking, the rag top eats up luggage space when stowed, reducing the already precious volume available for the privilege of going fully topless.
IMO the best overall solution is the coupe with the removable top... Not quite a full open air experience, but to me a more than acceptable compromise, with spectacular lines with the top on and equally STUNNING with the top off...

Sounds like you need a convertible! I've owned 4 convertibles, total, and 3 were Corvettes. Prefer the lines of a Corvette coupe and coupes make better track cars, but I prefer convertibles overall.

Love Corvettes of all types but never considered a coupe. Have driven several but would only own a rag-top. Of note, have owned a few other convertibles but the Corvette (especially the C7) is one of the very best on the road from an integration standpoint, arguably THE best soft-top convertible available.

Downside (as mentioned) is a bit less storage space. No issue for me (well, us) but is worth mentioning. Another is you aren't tracking it without installing an aftermarket roll-bar solution.

The upsides are mostly subjective personal preferences; absolutely LOVE dropping the top on a nice day!

Go rent one for the day (or score an extended test drive) and odds are, you'll trade your coupe...

I've had a 2007 Pontiac G6 GT HTC it gives you the best of both worlds A hard top and a Convertible. I prefer the Corvette Coupe. Test drove a vert. I just don't care for a soft top. I sold this car to get the coupe.

Interesting. Do you mean hotter with the top closed? My last two toys prior to the GS were 370Z Roadsters. First Platinum Graphite, then Gun Metallic, both with black top. Carolina summers can get pretty toasty at times, though not to the level of Texas summers. That said, when I left the top closed, I never felt like either of the 370Zs got any hotter than any other hardtop vehicle I've ever owned during the summer. Can't really compare to Vette convertibles, as my C6s and C7 have all been coupes.

Sell or trade your coupe and get a vert, it’s a pretty easy concept.

One thing to think about is you can't take a Convertible to the track if that matters

It's an individual preference thing, however only convertibles for me ( at least for modern vettes) for the below reasons.

Visually pleasing top up or down.
Much lower production, hold resale value better.
Love the looks of the waterfall between the seats as opposed to just a storage cavity.
Improved driving experience with the top down (coup with top panel removed isn't even close).
Much quieter.
A secure trunk where all your junk can't be seen, and still (even with top down) enough space to store (2) full size roll around carry-ons with additional space to spare.

And most important 'real sports car don't have tops' ;)

Yep, I actually only bought the car to have a fitting place to store the luggage!

5 convertibles so far 3 were Corvettes.

Great choice! Certainly can't go wrong with a Z06 Convertible!:thumbs:

Are there any differences in performance between the Vert and Coupe?

I know on the ZL1 there is.
