Anyone done ceramic coating? Was it actually significantly more glossy?
 

I have it on my 2016 Ram Sport 4X4, regular cab/short bed truck which is my daily driver.
I had the Cquartz Finest applied to the whole exterior of the truck. I will tell you, it so, so worth it. It really does keep your vehicle much more glossier and it always looks so clean, even if it is dirty. Cleaning is also easier as well.

You need to have the paint in top condition. If there are swirl marks and/or scratches, they need to be corrected first otherwise you are wasting your money. If you enjoy cleaning your car and keeping it detailed, then again it is a waste of your money.

I will be getting a paint correction done and the ceramic coating in a few weeks. Well worth the money IMO. I will likely do the 62 as well.

OP,.....if you are going to do this, make sure you're really good at detailing. You need to prep the paint very well. That is why some people see a haze or oily spots.
I had a paint correction and oils taken out of the paint before they applied the Cquartz Finest. The only way to have Cquartz Finest applied is by a certified and approved detailer anyways. You can not buy it unless you are, as I stated, a certified or approved detail shop.
I'm talking Cquartz Finest here, not the Cquartz or Cquartz UK. Those I do believe that you can buy online.

I was given 3 choices. 1,2 or 5 year for 500, 750 or 1200. This depended on brand of coating. The extended length coating is serious stuff and perfect for daily driven cars.

I had never done ceramic coating so I went with the 1yr for 500 as my car only sees summer time driving and my 62'(which I just had done last week) only sees about 500-1000 miles per summer. I believe the coating will last at least a year if not longer and my detailer thinks at least two years.

All quotes came with paint correction and a basic detail of the interior, exterior, rims, not show/deep detailing of the engine, chassis etc. I am not sure what you get for 2500 but IMO you're getting bent over at that price.

To the OP. Only go to a certified person who has the proper training. The quality ceramics are only sold to those who have been trained and certified to use the products. I have been very pleased with both cars.

Rinse with water and use a leaf blower or air compressor to dry. Bugs can take minor effort to remove. Also my detailer gave me a bottle of the detail spray that the company formulates for its own coatings.

Both cars now have a glow. My GS is pictured in other threads and the pics of the 62' don't do it justice as it was very cloudy outside. Ill post some later.

I used Ceramic Pro on my Cadillac, and it is fine, but, I just put MD Ceramic Duo Pro on my Vette. It is considerably more expensive, getting it on Amazon for around $225, but, it lasts 7 years, and you can multi layer it. Google it, and check out the video on how hard it makes it. With two coats, it will virtually eliminate rock chips. It is not any glossier than anything else, but the protection and durability are great.

I think that is high, as well, although, applying the MD Ceramic Pro was an awful lot of work. I had to use the MCGuires Wash Plus to get off any wax, and polish the surface and remove any remaining contaminants. Then I used the Dr Colorchip to cover up any paint chips. The next step was to put on the base coating of the MD Ceramic Pro, let dry, then wipe off. Then you put on the top coat the same way. I put a second top coating on to layer it. I had approximately 10 hours invested, and I already had my body man buff out almost all the swirl marks, with the wash plus taking care of the rest, along with any oils. So, it is time consuming, but, $2500 seems high. You should be able to get someone to buff it out for about $100-$150 and then the coating is $225. If you want to do it yourself, you can save lots of cash, and it isn't hard to do, if you follow the instructions.

Yes Ceramic coating is worth it :yesnod::yesnod: I did my black '13 and also my bright blue '68 Camaro both turned out much glossier, each car got a complete detail & polish & then 2 coats of ceramic, took 4 days for both, a lot of work for the prep but I'm in Arizona so hoping it will last 5 yrs. & mostly dust here so only soap wash the cars a few times a year, was more concerned on keeping the fine scratches off the black car while using the California duster, but found I can now use a blower to remove most of the dust & far less dust actually sticks to the surface because the coating makes for a very slick surface, I'm very pleased with the results & would do it all again, but probably won't have to

I had ceramic done to my C5, my Scion, my BMW, wife's BMW, and will soon do the wife's Lexus...it's great. Although I would recommend finding an individual detailer that's excellent to do the work. You'll save a ton of money and might get higher quality work.

I don't have any good pics since I picked it up last Friday and they do not do the car justice. The weather has been spotty and it was a very overcast day.
You can get a bit of an idea as far as gloss goes from the pic looking over the hood. BTW, this paint job is ~25 year old.

In person the paint looked so good and had so much depth that it picked up reflections off of everything. It was ridiculous. Pictures don't do it justice IMO
