C1 wheel bearings
Does anyone offer tapered roller bearings to replace the factory ball bearings in the front hubs of a 57 Corvette ?
Thanks, Rex Please disregard. I found the info in some old threads. Thanks |
I did find these. Price seems reasonable compared to the ones described in the older threads.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with the ebay seller. Just wanted to share in case anyone else is considering the conversion. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1953-62-Che...kAAOSwhxBZuYGj |

Thanks https://www.superpages.com/bp/los-an...0018138791.htm The aftermarket sources (Corvette Central, Paragon, etc) have them ------------------------- but at about TWICE the price. I have them on the 56 and I am a big believer in the conversion. MANY, MANY years ago, Roy Braatz was the person responsible for making this known. https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...1623b82664.jpg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...21e6cd9cdf.jpg These bearings are NOT, repeat, NOT available through local bearing sources or at the local auto parts store. |
Thanks Tom. About 5 minutes after I started my thread, I found YOUR posts in previous threads. I should have just gone directly to you to start with.
Thanks Tom Parsons for all you do for this forum AND for us Corvette rookies (I'm a 50 year rookie compared to Tom).:D:thumbs: Rex |

Note that if you are thinking about converting to disc brakes in the future, that the disc brake conversions come with tapered roller bearings & races (that fit the new brake rotors).

That was my next question, and you answered it. Thank you.
