1975 L82 4 speed convertible question
I read that of the 2372 L82 optioned 75 Corvettes that 336 of those were convertibles. Is there a published number of the 336 L82 convertibles that were equipped with the M21 4 speed transmission? Thanks in advance.

Short answer is no.
Each of the options have published quantities but you can only extrapolate the combinations like L82 w 4 speed. There is not published numbers of combination. The Corvette Black Book is a great source for the data. |

IMHO the 336 figure is someone's WAG.
I have a dated letter from GM St. Louis Assembly stating 336 1975 L-82 Corvettes were built out of 2372 L-82 cars. Steve, in doing my '75 L-82 Survey from years ago, I compiled about 90 cars. Interestingly, of that sampling it was almost a 50/50 split between automatics & 4spds. The M20/M21s also were BorgWarner Super T10s, not Muncie's. |
I have always wondered that myself. I have a 1975 L-82 4 speed convertible also.

Could you scan it and post it? It would be of interest to almost everybody.
 I'll have to see if I can find it. Been a couple of years since I was actively doing my '75 L-82 Survey and it was with all that paperwork. I came across it because when I was doing my survey, a gentlemen had a '75 L-82 4spd(M-21)convertible Z07 with no A/C and was a radio delete car from Hawaii and sent me EVERY stitch of paperwork for that car. The letter was folded up in that paparework. He contacted GM shortly after the '75 model year asking how many L-82 convertibles were made and that is what they wrote back to him. |
The OP is also asking about a M21 transmission, which is about a 3% option in 1975.. rare in my opinion. lots of L82 convertibles, (250-350?) but a lot less of those were M21's.
statistically about 8 total cars.. then factor in the error factor of course. |

Paul:
I think you sent me some of that info years ago when I filled out your survey. I'll have a look through my archives. |

Hi Paul, thanks for chiming in. Hopefully you can find that letter. Regards, Steve

Here is one to add to the list. I looked at this one last fall and had to pass on it. Still searching......

Why did you pass on it???

The car was advertised as 4000 miles "like new condition”. Unfortunately it was never properly stored and the condition was not stellar.
|
Thanks for your quick response. I forgot to ask how much he was asking for it. I have one that is the same color combo.
|
He was asking 24,000. If the car would have been a top flight survivor I would have been a happy camper.

...that's too bad-I would've like that Millie Red, Black Leather, no A/C, crank windows, L-82 4spd combo !!!

Funny how that AM FM stereo radio is a $50 less expensive option than the L82 engine.
